Meet the President of the Aurora Legion- Stephen Boyne

Major (Retired) Stephen Boyne served in the Canadian Forces for 25 years starting with the Queen's York Rangers and subsequently as an Infantry Officer in the PPCLI and later a Bioscience Officer. During his career in the CF, he was deployed on operations in Croatia (92/93) and Afghanistan (2006/07). After retiring from the CF, he transferred to the Federal Public Service where he served as a senior executive at Defence Research and Development Canada and with Public Works and Government Services Canada until his retirement in 2021.

Stephen has been a Royal Canadian Legion member for over 20 years. He joined the Aurora Legion Executive in 2023 as Sgt at Arms. Since then, he has also served as the 1st VP, Poppy Chair, Bar Chair and was recently elected as President. Stephen is also currently the Zone Poppy Chair.

As President, Stephen is planning to modernize the branch processes, improve the range of activities we offer to our members and specifically to Veterans. Stephen is championing an initiative to rebuild the branch and incorporate affordable housing for Veterans.

Stephen is a father of 4 children, has 1 granddaughter and another grandchild on the way. In his spare time, Stephen enjoys running, travelling, craft beer and scotch. Stephen welcomes members and the community to contact him at [email protected] with any questions or concerns.
