Lithium-ion batteries are everywhere — in our phones, laptops, power tools, e-bikes, scooters and many other devices we use every day.
When used properly, they are generally safe. But damaged, defective or improperly charged batteries can overheat, catch fire or even explode — and lithium-ion battery fires can spread very quickly.
A few simple safety steps can make a big difference:
🔋 Use only approved batteries and chargers
🔌 Charge devices on a hard, flat surface
🌙 Avoid charging overnight or while unattended
🔥 Keep batteries away from heat and flammable materials
⚠️ Stop using batteries that are swollen, damaged, leaking, unusually hot or producing an unusual smell
♻️ Recycle old or damaged batteries at an approved location — never place them in household garbage or recycling
