🎉 Exciting news! 🎉
Community Futures Ontario has recognized the Ukrainian Refugee Support project as the Community Economic Development Project of the Year! This initiative, started by Atikokan Economic Development Corporation and Resolute Forest Products, has helped around 100 Ukrainians find a new home in Atikokan, Ontario.
Not only has this project addressed a labour shortage at the local mill, but it has also revitalized our community, increasing our population by 4%! Thanks to this effort, the mill has been able to double its shifts, and an empty hotel has been converted into a comfortable living space for our new residents.
We’re proud to be part of a project that’s opening doors to growth opportunities while assisting with a humanitarian crisis. Congratulations to everyone involved in the Ukrainian Support Program! 🎉👏
