The Willow Learning House winter term will run Tuesdays through Fridays from January 8th to March 22nd. Children may attend one, two, three, or four days per week (although a minimum of two days per week is recommended.) Choose one option, or mix and match to create the best fit for

your family:

The theme for the 2024 Winter term is Africa! Guided by the novel,
"The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind", we will explore this exciting continent while simultaneously learning about electricity. Older students (9 and up) will compare electricity use and creation in Africa and North America. Then they will have the opportunity to design and build their own renewable devices. Younger students will study the properties of light and sound and will also have the opportunity to experiment, design and build. Students of all ages will learn about the dynamic cultures, landscapes, and animals of Africa through guided lessons, research projects, and other hands-on activities. The term will be completed with a mini exposition where students can present their work to friends and family. Morning Academics 9AM to 11AM $10/day
Your child will spend the morning working on mathematics and English Language Arts in a laid-back, yet quiet and focused environment, with the guidance of a certified teacher. Students can bring in curriculum work from home or bookwork can be supplied for a fee of $25 per term. Core Learning Program 11AM to 3PM- $20/day
(plus $25/term supply fee)
Your child will have the chance to participate in a variety of theme-based learning. Lessons and activities will include science and social studies concepts, as well as an integration of reading, writing, mathematics, and the arts. These classes will help children gain scientific, historical and geographical knowledge, with a focus on collaborative work and critical thinking through research, hands-on projects, role-playing, and much more. Students will also have the chance to strengthen social skills and confidence through “circle time”, active games, and free play with their peers. Afternoon Social 3PM- 5PM- $10/day
Your child will enjoy unstructured play time with friends in a safe and inclusive environment. Our space offers an arts and crafts table; many books, puzzles, and board games; a playroom full of toys; and a large outdoor play area with basketball and soccer nets (and ice skating in the winter!), a jungle gym, and a grassy field. Some structured activities may be offered, depending on student interest.
