The 2026 Fill The Bus Food Drive Event was a HUGE success again this year! This will help the Amherstburg Food and Fellowship Mission, Amherstburg Community Services, and Be The Light Outreach Ministry assist those in need throughout the summer and the coming year.
The event, which was organized by a team of 4 individuals would not have been possible without the help of over 50 volunteers, including high school students, members of Encounter Church, Amherstburg Karate Club, and firefighters from the Amherstburg Firefighters Association to name just a few. We are also grateful to our media sponsors, the River Town Times Amherstburg and 107.9 FM The Burg CKBG.
Another shout out goes to Encounter Church who donated our new banners, provided printing services, and space for us to sort and distribute the items to the 3 organizations.
Special thanks to the local businesses who fed our volunteers this weekend: Naples Pizza Amherstburg on Saturday, Domino's Pizza on Sunday, and Quesada Burritos & Tacos on Monday.
Thank you to the staff of No Frills, Amherstburg Sobeys #4018, and Walmart for their support this weekend.
Switzer-CARTY Transportation once again outdid themselves by providing exceptional bus drivers who gave 100% - punctual, professional, and very helpful!
We want to thank all the children who took time to enter our colouring contest. We hope you had fun. Congratulations to the 3 randomly drawn winners of the colouring contest Ace H, Haven H, and Adalynn. They have been contacted and may pick up their prize at BeaverTails- Queues de Castor Amherstburg.
Jill from the Amherstburg Food and Fellowship Mission said, "While the Fill the Bus campaign helps keep our shelves stocked, we also need volunteers to keep our mission running. We're especially looking for cleaners and dishwashers to help cover vacation schedules over the summer months."
Cash donations of over $2,500 were also received which help the organizations to purchase things such as meat and fresh produce. If you didn't have a chance to participate and would like to give, please send an e-transfer to [email protected].
