The MLB is an accredited quality control agency. The Maritime Lumber Bureau (MLB) was founded in 1938.

The MLB monitors the quality control of lumber, provides training in grading and has implemented an effective Certificate of Origin Program for shipments of softwood lumber destined for the United States. For the past 75 years the organization has provided market access services for the Atlantic Region’s lumber producers. The MLB is an accredited quality control agency by the Canadian Lumber Stand

ards Accreditation Board, the American Lumber Standards Committee; the British Standards Institute; and the Japanese Ministry of Construction. The MLB is also certified by the Canadian Food and Inspection Agency (CFIA) as a “service provider”.

The Irving Sawmills have a long-standing reputation for producing quality lumber. The first Irving sawmill began in 1882 and now the company has sawmill and woodland operations all over Canada, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, and the US.

J. D. Irving Ltd. Grand Lake Timber Mill # 700 Chipman, New Brunswick, is a large-scale sawmill, one of the largest in Eastern Canada offering kiln dried, heat treated SPF products. The mill received an upgrade in 2024 to a biomass boiler, reducing fossil fuels and increasing green energy!
