These two lovely ladies are looking for a new home. Though no fault of theirs, their mom is no longer able to take care of them. Missy, who is the beautiful calico, is about 5 years old, and her sister from another mother, is Smokey. She is a little younger at approximately 3 years old and is a beautiful grey velvet Russian blue girl. They will be coming with all their supplies and if they are adopted together they will be coming with a beautiful Catio, recently built for them by Mr Cedar. They love it, as you can see from the photos. There will be no adoption fee for them, but you must have an approved adoption application through CARMA. If you are seriously interested we can arrange for a meet and greet and more information from their mom directly. Why I keep preaching TNR is so important and why we need low cost community spay and neuter programs because as long as people keep letting their cats have kittens, and our local shelter keeps adopting out kittens WITHOUT spaying and neutering them as part of their adoption programs .. there will never be enough space!

It’s irresponsible and unethical no matter what they say! We have THE ONLY shelter in all of NS, NB and PEI that does not spay and neuter as part of their adoption program One has to wonder how many kittens turn into cats without ever being fixed… I know some because I get calls asking for CARMA to fix them. We are a TNR program. Call you town Councillors, or call the shelter president. It’s one call as he is one and the same. It’s important to let them know this is not right! It’s important for the kitties! We have to be their voice!!

💔 WHY TRAPPING KITTENS CAN BRING HEARTBREAK

We all love kittens. They’re tiny, adorable, and incredibly hard to resist. 😻

But here’s the hard truth: Kittens are exactly what TNVR is trying to prevent.

🐾 Every kitten born means another litter that could have been prevented.

🐾 Every litter means more cats who will eventually need homes, food, veterinary care, and lifelong care.

🐾 Not every kitten will find a safe home - Some will become community cats and face illness, injury, parasites, predators, cars, and the challenges of life outdoors.

🐾 Shelters and rescues are already overwhelmed with the cats and kittens who need help.

🐾 Foster homes are limited, and there are only so many people who can take in another litter.

🐾 The more kittens born, the harder it becomes to help the cats who are already here.

🐾 Waiting to trap the adults because there are “cute kittens” can quickly turn into more kittens, more litters, and more heartbreak.

🐾 And those adorable kittens grow up. If they aren't sterilized by 4 months, they can start the cycle all over again.

This is why TNVR matters.

The goal isn't to prevent kittens because we don't love them.

We prevent kittens because we DO love cats. ❤️

We want fewer cats born into a world where there aren't enough homes, resources, fosters, or veterinary care for them all.

So when you see a community cat with kittens, remember: The heartbreak isn't that we don't want kittens ... The heartbreak is knowing how many kittens will be born, struggle, suffer, or go without homes if we don't stop the cycle.

✅ Trap. Neuter. Vaccinate. Return. Prevent the next litter.

Because sometimes the most compassionate thing we can do for kittens is make sure fewer kittens have to be born into this crisis. 💔❤️

Thank you again to Marian Richards for her ongoing effort to collect and return bottles for CARMA homeless kitties. Her work is tireless and so greatly appreciated. We are grateful for your continued support! Bottles and cans can be dropped at her place 131 Spring Street in Amherst to be used to help spay and neuter homeless / farm / colonies of cats in need of population control. Thank you Marian 🩷🐈‍⬛🩷

This…THIS IS WHY TNR and spaying and neutering is so important. To end needless suffering and to end the cycle. To not spay and neuter means one more cat out there possibly reproducing more kittens and the cycle continues. No shelter or rescue should be adopting out kittens without ensuring they are spayed and neutered as part of their adoption program. By not doing so it potentially means more adding to the cycle! TNR is crucial but so are spay and neuter programs!

Thank you to the incredible staff and customers for all the donations yesterday for our winter ferel cat feeding program. We are so incredibly lucky to have amazing partners in the Atlantic Superstore and their staff to help us help so many homeless cats in need, especially during the winter months when the need is so great. The less we have to spend on food means the more spays and neuters we can do! Special thanks to Kate and Rick for helping to make this happen.

Here they go again for us! Many thanks in advance for the Amherst Superstore. They will be collecting food donations that are being given away on Wednesday August 26th at the store We realize it is dog food but when you are a starving kitty on a farm in the cold temperatures of January and February you are just grateful for food in your belly. We mix this with the cat food that the store and their customers donated earlier this month and it will help many more in need keep their bellies full during the cold weather. We also purchase powdered taurine (which is the ingredient in cat food but not in dog food - dogs produce their own taurine but cats can’t that is why it is added to cat food). This helps stretch the food donations farther and helps keep them healthier. If you are one of the first 250 customers at the store on Wednesday and have no need for the donated bag, we would be very grateful for the donation towards our winter ferel cat food program. We thank the customers who supported us previously and to the wonderful staff who help make these donations possible. Take care Following

Looking for information and help.
Someone messaged that they found a baby kitten (estimated about 3-4 weeks old) in the Copp Avenue area around Rambler and Foundry St block. Advised there are likely more there as it appears to have been born outside. It was very hungry and a little dehydrated. Kitten was likely still nursing from mama kitty. We would like to help get these kittens safely indoors and be able to get the mama kitty spayed so this is her last litter born outside. If anyone has any information or finds any more kittens please let us know. We are more than willing to help trap both mama and babies but we need to know where to look.
