Youth Outreach Program - Cumberland County Programs serve youth 12 to 24 years old.

The Youth Outreach Pogram (YOP) is a community-based program designed to improve the immediate and long-term social, educational/vocational, economic and health outcomes for vulnerable youth. The Youth Outreach Program is made up of Kylie Atkinson-Hand and Brandy Mcleod, and is located out of the Cumberland Community Youth Development Center at 17 Lawrence Street, Amherst, NS.

Anchor Youth Space - Cumberland is happy to announce we are hosting a Thanksgiving Food Drive! We are able to offer 10 available spots to those in need, on a first come first serve basis! Food donation box pick-up and drop-offs will be arranged for Friday October 10th.

Come check out Maggie’s Place Youth Chat!
This program is held at Anchor Youth Space Cumberland (13 W. Pleasant St.) Thursday, September 11th and Thursday, September 25th from 11am-2pm for Maggie’s Place Youth Chat!
Youth aged 16-26 can have a shower, do laundry, grab a bite to eat, hang out and play games. Youth Outreach Workers are available to set and work on goals, make community connections, build life/social skills, or just chat. ☺️

Starting Wednesday August 20th at 9am Maggie's Place will begin accepting phone calls at (902) 667-7250 to order Backpacks with School Supplies for those heading to school in September. Please note we are only able to accept orders by speaking with a staff member by phone. We cannot accept phone messages or social media requests at this time.

Backpacks may be picked up in Amherst (11 Elmwood Drive) beginning Monday August 25 at 9am. Other pick up locations including Springhill, Oxford, Wentworth, Wallace, Pugwash, River Hebert, Parrsboro and Advocate, and times are also available when placing your order.

Thank you to the Springhill Lion's Club, The Parrsboro Lion's Club, The Amherst Zonta Club, the Amherst Fire Department and various community members for your generous donations to help support this event!

Since 2000, August 12th has been recognized as International Youth Day to celebrate all young people, as well as bringing awareness to issues youth face around the world and encouraging government to prioritize youth by making policy that is inclusive of and helpful to youth, as well as encouraging and supporting youth to be part of decisions and change.
This years theme is, "Local Youth Actions for the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) and Beyond" and focuses on how youth are taking these 17 global goals and helping to achieve them on a local level.
