I consider myself an abstract artist and I love working with acrylic paints. I use bold colours, in my paintings which help express the emotions I am trying to portray. I believe in recycling, using many repurposed canvases.
I have a love for all animals, especially the array of squirrels, chipmunks, bluejays and even crows who come to my yard every morning for treats. This art series "In My Garden" was inspired by "Mama Squirrel" who has been here for 2 years since she was tiny and whose five babies have grown up in one of our trees.

actual.
adj. Existing in fact; typically as contrasted with what was intended, expected or believed.

The middle ground between light and shadow is a place of discomfort, yet it is where conscious growth can happen. In this apprehensive state answers are made clear if the right questions are asked.

"Why" applied inward can have tremendous affect on the outward. It can lead you places you never thought you'd go or shine light on the unseen sights that parallel your current journey.

Asking WHY has helped remind me of what was has been forgotten. Asking HOW has helped translate emotional complexities into physical simplicities.

Maria Petrov is a self-taught Canadian artist with a deep passion for seascapes. Inspired by the works of acclaimed seascapes painters and the beauty of nature, Maria Petrov has developed a distinctive style that marries realism with a touch of impressionism. Her brushstrokes, both deliberate and spontaneous, convey not only the visual spectacle of water but also the emotions it evokes
within her. Each piece tells a unique story, inviting contemplation and reflection. Her seascapes are not mere representations of water; they are windows into the captivating and ever-changing world of the sea. Her work reflects the interplay of light and water, capturing the ethereal moments that make seascapes so enchanting.

Maria Petrov's award-winning work has been featured in several exhibitions, where her seascapes have garnered admiration for their ability to transport viewers to the shores of distant landscapes. Her art continues to captivate audiences, inviting them to immerse themselves in the timeless allure of the sea. In a world that often rushes by, Maria Petrov's seascapes offer a moment of tranquility—a chance to pause, breathe, and lose oneself in the mesmerizing ebb and flow of the ocean.

Patricia Vega is a versatile skilled visual artist with a strong background in fine art and design. Her diverse skill set allows her to works with various media such as cyanotype, printmaking, and mixed media. Although she primarily uses printmaking techniques to create her artwork, she is currently exploring the cyanotype process to create textile, paper, and glass pieces of artwork. Cyanotype is an old camera-less photographic printing process that uses ultraviolet light to produce blueprints. By combining natural materials, Patricia creates stunning monochrome images that capture the beauty of nature. The use of sunlight in this process results in a range of beautiful Prussian blues.

Patricia has her art studio in Mansfield, ON.

Whether landscapes, seascapes, people or animals, I love to draw, and paint. "Love life and art."
The medium I paint with most is acrylic, although I also enjoy others, such as pastel and watercolour.
My works are "memorable images" of special places and times. I try to capture motion and light. Recently I have been creating more abstract paintings which I find fun and challenging. Creating a composition that involves the viewer to sense the light and motion with keeping them involved in the flow of the line and colour is fun for me. I hope to give pleasure and evoke a memory to the viewers.
I teach to encourage young artists and anyone wishing to improve their present ability through seeing shape and colour, getting past the fear of starting a piece, to enjoying creating with colour, lines and shapes.
Email to enquire re classes or viewing my work. [email protected]
I have sold works across Canada, in the USA and UK.

Coming from the tail end of the "FLOWER POWER" era, I used to macrame in the '70's with my high-school chums. As they say, what goes around comes around. Creativity has been my outlet for stress as I have always worked full time, with the exception of maternity leaves. Now that arthritis has set in, it is more important than ever to keep using my hands. So, macrame has been resurrected! This rounds out my creative portfolio of hand-made fashion and sterling silver jewellery, knitting, and of course, macrame. Enjoy!

My name is Rebecca Doyle. I am a scientist with a passion for watercolour. I am inspired by my local environment and often paint the plants and animals that I encounter around my workplace, the Scanlon Creek Conservation Area (Bradford, Ontario). I sell original watercolour paintings, giclee prints, and art/greeting cards. My creative process involves "glazing", or layering many thin layers of watercolour paint. I occasionally incorporate gouache into my paintings, depending on the subject.

Come to the Museum on the Boyne to experience colourful abstracts magnificently rendered by Kathy Melanson, inspired by the intersection of paint, collage and the history of the land.

Kathy's new works are Land Based Abstracts, inspired by the land in which she lives and often has ecological themes. These colourful abstracts explore the elemental energy of the waters and earth, referencing rivers and land.

Kathy says of her work, "My process involves layering many layers of paint, collage, drawing and texture all combining to create a composition that speaks to me in some way. It is an intuitive process, often hard to articulate in words. My inspiration is the land - the layers of earth, trees, rocks, rivers and history - and I endeavour to create a new world reassembled from these disparate parts."

Kathy's artistic adventure has included painting, drawing, printmaking, teaching, murals and set painting. A lover of nature and the outdoors, inspiration comes from our precious planet.

Kathy has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Windsor and has been a practicing artist, winning many awards, for over 30 years. She lives in Alliston, Ontario.
