169 Columbia - Royal Canadian Sea Cadets training at CFS Aldergrove in 1995 was a community affair, with benefits for both cadets and firefighters. The 15th Field Regiment Vancouver Artillery Association also made use of the training grounds that year.

This past Tuesday was heavy for all who attended; we said goodbye to our former Coxswain CPO1 Calub Tran. Calub has been a vital part in our corp and to see him go brought tears to my eye. Something in his goodbye speech that I wanted to share here : “Exploite the program”

The cadet program offers so many unique opportunities and experiences that there really isn’t enough time to try everything. CPO Tran has his scuba certification, expert marksman, first aid, sailing, marksman instructor, multiple summer courses and much more under his belt. This is what the program is all about

On October 7th, 2025, we recognized the transition of coxswain within the corps. As the outgoing coxswain, CPO1 Calub Tran completes his time with us, he has passed the role to the incoming senior cadet, CPO2 Alex Hessberger. We thank them both for their leadership and wish the new coxswain success in his duties

Finally sharing these moments from early September — still just as special now.

PO2 Moromisato was awarded the Echo Alpha Award at the beginning of the training year as she was absent during our ACR last year.

Echo Alpha Leadership Award, this award is presented to a select cadet demonstrating true leadership, and earning the respect of others through action, integrity and service. It is about stepping forward when others hesitate offering support when a peer is struggling. And setting a quiet example even when no one is watching.

Ahhhh good old sailing weather 🌧️🌦️

This long weekend, our cadets along with selected few from Chilliwack Sea Cadets attended a sail training weekend at the Chilliwack Sail Center at Cultus Lake!

With this being the first group to attend the new location, there were some unavoidable bumps in the road; but all in all, the cadets went from being soaked head to toe on Saturday by the rain, to voluntarily jumping into the lake at just 13° outside on Sunday before our departure! Check out some of the photos taken below!
