A little rain and overcast skies did not keep the young & young at heart from joining us yesterday at the 2026 Family Fun Day held at Ajax Downs.

Attendees had a great time enjoying games, hanging out with new furry or scaly friends, making their way through the inflatable obstacle course, enjoying some popcorn or cotton candy, listening to the musicians and watching the magicians! And of course, in the background were the thuds of horses’ hooves as they came thundering down the track.

Over the last 16 years, Family Fun Day has grown into a much-anticipated family-friendly event that introduces members of our community to horse races as well as raises money for the Ajax Pickering Hospital.

And thank you to all the volunteers who were with us from early in the morning to help set-up and then after the event to helped tear-down.

In the waning days of summer, we want to give a big 📣shout out 📣 to our own Auxiliary as well as Delta Bingo and Gaming (Pickering) for all the hard work they do raising funds for the Ajax Pickering Hospital.

You will often see volunteers from our Auxiliary "working" a shift at Delta, who in turn donate to the Hospital. Very quickly, these funds accumulate to purchase new equipment, such as an incubator, biochemistry cabinet for the Lab, an ECG, an Eye Slit Lamp & Portable Patient Lift for the Emergency Department.

One of the first fun activities that happens every year at 🐴 FAMILY FUN DAY 🐴 is the "Try the Track" where kids of all ages zoom out of the starting box and run down the track, imitating what the horses will soon be doing.
Luckily we don't need the outriders to help!
