Thank you goes out to over 25 volunteers that answered the call, this past (beautiful) Sunday - to help with our annual PLANTING DAY at Ajax Pickering Hospital!

We planted over 130 flowers in the 2-North Patio for patients and visitors to enjoy all summer! We also planted over 500 seeds and seedlings in the Indigenous Community & Healing Garden, including over 30 varieties of herbs and vegetables.

These gardens are donor funded and maintained by volunteers throughout the growing season. A special thank you goes out to youth group Operation Ecopen for their grant work and weekly visits; as well as, Vandermeer Nursery for their contribution/support again this year!

Throughout her remarkable career, Tracy has played an instrumental role in advancing health care in Durham Region – through transformational fundraising, meaningful community partnerships, and an unwavering commitment to exceptional care close to home. Her impact will certainly be felt for generations to come.

Last night, we were honoured to host Mayor Shaun Collier and some of the amazing sponsors of the 2026 Ajax Mayor's Gala. The Ajax Pickering Hospital Foundation is the Gala's charity of choice for both their 2025 and 2026 events, and pledged $500,000 in support of new Automatic Drug Dispensing Units for our hospital.

During the reception, members of our Pharmacy team were on hand to give live demos to our guests filling prescriptions from physicians such as Dr. Al B. Fine and Dr. Moe Mentum!

These new machines are a game-changing for both frontline staff and pharmacy as they have made the processes for dispensing and distributing medications quicker, more efficient as well as safer. Resulting in even better care for our patients.

It's amazing how "slow-quick-quick-slow" can raise $7,455 (to date) for cancer care at Ajax Pickering Hospital...

On April 18, five stars took their routines to the dance floor at the Palais Royale in front of other Arthur Murray dance studios both from Ajax and other locations in Ontario.

💃Special shout outs to the dancers who worked so hard to make their dancing look so easy: Cuauhtemoc “Temoc” Flores, Bahar Jozani, Jamie Sylvester, Anita Eva Dorotos, and Natasha Gagnon. And a HUGE thank you to Anna Borshch who put this event together ❤

Last week, we welcomed members of the Florence Nightingale Home Foundation whose $5,000 donation recently funded two sleeper chairs for our post-partum program. 👶

These chairs fold out so that family members or supporters of the mum have somewhere to catch some winks after the excitement of welcoming a new baby to the world. 😴

The Foundation is one of the Benevolent arms of the Order of the Eastern Star in Ontario. Between 1928 and 1975, the Florence Nightingale Home Board operated a home in Agincourt, first for orphans and in later years, for the elderly. In 1975, the home was sold and funds from the sale were invested. The interest is now used to provide donations to accredited Ontario hospitals for patient care and clinical equipment.
