🏅 Airdrie-area athletes are on the national stage — and there are plenty of local names to cheer for.

Airdrie's Chelsey Adams is taking on four athletics events at the 2026 Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Medicine Hat, while Emma Ball of Irricana and Sarah Schmick of Carstairs are representing Alberta in the pool with ties to the Airdrie program. 🏃‍♀️🏊‍♀️

Schmick arrives just weeks after winning provincial gold, Ball is chasing personal bests after months of preparation, and Adams is hoping to add more medals to her collection.

And they're not alone — athletes from Strathmore, Okotoks and Canmore are also competing this week.

💙 More than 1,700 participants from across Canada are taking part in 10 sports over five days.

Special O Airdrie Athletes Rylee and Emma were at the Stampede Kids Day. They were there to take turns being the RCMP mascot, Safety Bear, but unfortunately, a part of the costume was missing. They were both very positive and quickly refocused and helped out at the RCMP booth.
