"Gentle Teaching" gets used a lot around here, and we realized we don't always stop to explain what it actually means.
It isn't a curriculum. It isn't a behaviour plan. It's four things, in order: a person needs to feel safe, then loved, then supported by people who lead with warmth, and only then are they ready to engage with activities, with community, and with their own growth.
If you skip any one of those steps, the rest doesn't hold. That's why everything we do at H.O.M.E. Society starts with the first one: does this person feel safe, right now, with us?
