Today we were pleased to welcome Jennifer Ewart, Director of Philanthropy with the Fraser Valley Health Care Foundation, as our guest speaker. Jennifer shared exciting updates on the Foundation’s new projects and ongoing fundraising efforts that directly support healthcare in our local communities.

Funds raised stay local and help serve residents in Abbotsford, Mission, Chilliwack, Hope, and Agassiz through improved healthcare equipment, programs, and patient care. Thank you, Jennifer, for the important work you and the Foundation continue to do for our community.

Today, members of the Rotary Club of Abbotsford Sumas came together with purpose and heart to support the Cyrus Centre.

This year, our club committed funds toward something truly meaningful, helping create a functional and welcoming backyard space for youth. Together, we assembled planters and outdoor elements that will transform this space into a place of comfort, growth, and connection.
Service above self is more than a motto. It’s action. And today was a great example of what can happen when a community rallies together to make a difference.

The Cyrus Centre provides support, shelter, and resources for vulnerable and at risk youth in the community. They offer safe housing, life skills development, and access to essential services, helping young people move toward stability, independence, and a brighter future.

Rotary in action at the Abbotsford Canucks game!

On Friday, members from the Rotary Club of Abbotsford Sumas , Abbotsford and Abbotsford Matsqui, came together to sell 50 50 tickets in support of Canuck Place Children’s Hospice. It was a great night of teamwork, community spirit, and fundraising for an incredible cause that supports children and families across our region.

Rotary is all about neighbours helping neighbours. From local fundraising to hands on community projects, our members are committed to making Abbotsford stronger.

Last week our Rotary Club had the honour of welcoming Andrea Critchley, Executive Director of the Abbotsford Hospice and Grief Support Society, to share the incredible work they do for children, youth, and families navigating loss.

Their programs provide a safe, compassionate space for young people to understand grief, express their emotions, and feel supported through some of life’s hardest moments. From one-on-one counselling to group programs, workshops, and family support services, their team walks alongside families with heart, expertise, and deep community care.

We are proud to support this essential work and were grateful to present our annual cheque in support of their programs.
A big thank you as well to Rick Barkwell (Manager, Legacy Giving & Major Gifts) for joining us.

Together, we continue building a community where no child, teen, or family has to navigate grief alone.
