🐾 One Year Home: Joey's Happy Gotcha Day! ❤️
One year ago, Joey found his forever home, and we recently received this heartwarming update from his adopter, Mary-Lee Sampson, who kindly gave us permission to share their story. Joey came to the BC SPCA looking for a second chance, and seeing him thrive is exactly why we do what we do.
💬"What a year it’s been.
When I brought this little guy home, so much of the world was new to him—stairs, cars, bikes, bugs and all the strange noises of everyday life. I followed the 3-3-3 rule and leaned on a good friend through some of the tougher moments.
Slowly, we learned together. More importantly, we learned to trust each other.
Today, Joey is a confident, funny and loving boy. He still has a few quirks, but his resource guarding has almost disappeared, he loves his neighbourhood dog friends, and he’s become quite the character. I’ve also learned that if something is in his mouth, sometimes the best thing to do is simply leave it there! 😂
He’s taught me patience, trust, boundaries and so much about dogs.
I love this little guy more than I ever expected. ❤️ He didn’t just become part of my home—he became a very special part of my world.
Happy one year together, Joey. Here’s to many more adventures. 🐾❤️"
Stories like Joey's remind us that adoption is a journey. With patience, understanding, and love, incredible transformations can happen.
Happy Gotcha Day, Joey! Thank you, Mary-Lee Sampson, for giving this special boy the life he deserves. ❤️🐾
