Farmers’ Markets = BC at its freshest

Our visit to the Abbotsford Farmers’ Market reminded us how powerful it is to eat with the seasons and support local growers.

From fresh produce to community connection, farmers' markets are one of the best ways to experience BC agriculture.

Abbotsford Farm & Country Market is operating every Saturday morning from 9AM – 1PM till October 31, 2026 this year.

🏆 2025 Outstanding Teacher in Agriculture Award

We are pleased to recognize Cailyn Morash, Grade 6 Math/Science teacher at Glenrosa Middle School in West Kelowna, as the recipient of the 2025 Outstanding Teacher in Agriculture Award.

Presented last week at the BC Agriculture Council’s Policy Forum Gala in Penticton, this award honours Cailyn’s leadership and innovation in bringing agriculture and food education to life in her classroom 🌱

Through hands-on learning and programs like Spuds in Tubs, she inspires students to better understand where their food comes from and their connection to BC’s agricultural systems.

Congratulations, Cailyn, and thank you for your dedication to agricultural education 💚

🌿 Pencil Patch Summer Update

Pencil Patch is starting to glow this summer, showing the impact of all the hard work and dedication from our volunteers so far. After the 2025 flood, the journey of restoration continues and while we’ve come a long way, there is still more to do.

We would deeply appreciate your ongoing support. Whether through in-kind contributions, monetary donations, or volunteering, every bit of help makes a meaningful difference. To get involved, please visit: https://www.bcaitc.ca/volunteer-opportunities

A special thank you to "Fantasy Farms" for PROVIDING the goats again this year, helping bring hands-on, impactful learning experiences to life for students. 🐐💚

Thank you to everyone who continues to support the rebuilding and growth of Pencil Patch.

🥔 From seed potato to harvest day!

Students spent months planting, watering, observing, and caring for their potato plants before digging into the soil to uncover the results of their hard work.

Spuds in Tubs gives K-12 students a hands-on opportunity to learn where food comes from and experience the excitement of growing their own crop from start to finish.

There's nothing quite like harvesting a potato you grew yourself! 🌱
