We are incredibly sad to report the termination of our recycling services contract with the municipalities of Abbotsford and Mission. This is a devastating time for our 62 staff, some of whom have worked at our Recycling Depot / Plant for decades.

Since our recycling program began in 1970, it has offered supported employment to individuals with barriers. It’s remarkable program that recycles over 10,000 tonnes of material each year, diverting this waste from landfills while creating stable and inclusive employment for people with disabilities, newcomers and more.

A new contractor will take over the operation effective January 2026. Rather than supporting a non-profit social enterprise which employed local residents, the contract will now go to a for-profit business and materials will be shipped away, increasing the carbon footprint.

Since the contract decision is final, we are turning our efforts to supporting our staff in finding new employment opportunities. We are inviting every business and employer in the community to step up and support our dedicated team of loyal and hardworking individuals to secure their next place of employment.

Those who may have jobs available or have questions are asked to email [email protected].
