📅 **Looking for FVMA Events? We've Got You Covered!** 💙

We sometimes hear from members who have missed an event or didn't know something was happening. We know how frustrating that can be, especially when it's an event you would have loved to attend!

We do our best to keep everyone in the loop through emails, social media posts, and our website. But between spam filters, email subscriptions, and social media algorithms, sometimes our messages just don't make it through!

**Here's a little tip: Our FVMA website is your most reliable source for upcoming events and activities!** 🎉

🌐 **Visit https://fvma.ca/events-news/**

Our events calendar lets you:
📆 Browse events by month, week, or day.

📋 Switch between list and grid views.

🔎 Search for events or jump to a specific month.

We've included a screenshot to show you exactly where to find these options!

**A few ways to stay connected:**

📧 Check your junk or spam folder for FVMA emails. If you've accidentally unsubscribed or blocked our automated messages, you may not be receiving our updates. If that's the case, let us know!

📱 Follow our social media pages, but remember that algorithms don't always show you everything we post.

🌐 **Bookmark our website!** It's the central place where we share information about our events, activities, and opportunities to get involved.

We want everyone to have the chance to join in, celebrate our culture, connect with fellow Métis community members, and enjoy everything FVMA has to offer.

After all, the more the merrier — especially when there's a kitchen party involved! 🪗🎻💙

**Help us spread the word by sharing this post with fellow FVMA members!**

🚨 Final call for future FVMA Directors!

Tomorrow we elect a Citizen Member to fill one Director-at-Large seat.

If you care about where this community is going and think you could contribute something useful to the team, please consider putting your name forward.

You don’t have to have done this before.

Sometimes healthy community leadership starts with somebody deciding:

“Why not me?”

Nominate ahead of time or from the floor at the AGM.

⏰ The countdown is on.

Saturday is FVMA’s AGM, and there is still one Director-at-Large position to fill.

Serving on a community Board is one of the most direct ways to help turn ideas into actual programs, gatherings, advocacy and opportunities for Citizen Members.

If you’ve been considering getting involved, now is a very good time to put your name forward.

Nominations can be made in advance and will also be accepted from the floor.

👀 Thinking about the FVMA Board but can’t attend Saturday?

That does not automatically rule you out.

Candidates for the available Director-at-Large seat do not have to be present at the AGM to run.

You can submit your nomination information and candidate bio in advance. Remember: your information is your pitch and it is what we share with members to help them choose their best representation.

So if the only thing stopping you was, “I can’t make the meeting…”

Problem solved. 😉

🗳️ **MEET YOUR 2026 DIRECTOR AT LARGE CANDIDATES**

FVMA members will elect **one Director at Large** to the Board of Directors at our AGM on **September 26, 2026**.

Three candidate profiles are currently posted. Each candidate was invited to provide information about themselves and why they are seeking the position. Here’s a quick introduction based on what each candidate submitted:

**Cory Therrien**
Cory states that he is running “to hopefully fix what MNBC has done to my local.” No additional biography or candidate photo was submitted.

**Adria Rose Matthews**
Adria shares that she is a 24-year-old Métis woman currently completing a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology, with a long-term interest in Indigenous-led conservation. She speaks about her own journey of cultural reconnection and wants to help create stronger opportunities for Métis youth through cultural connection, mentorship, education and community involvement. She hopes to bring the perspective of a young Métis person to the FVMA Board.

**Amanda Fehr**
Amanda informs that she worked with the Canadian Coast Guard for 23 years and holds a Bachelor of Technology in Emergency Management. She brings experience in leadership, financial management, governance, planning and community engagement. 🌱 Fresh perspectives wanted.

FVMA is looking for a Citizen Member interested in serving as our next Director-at-Large.

Maybe you’re new to community involvement.

Maybe you’ve been around for years but never considered the Board.

Maybe you have skills, lived experience or ideas that haven’t been represented at the table yet.

You do not need to be a “board person” already.

You just need to be willing to contribute, and collaborate in a positive way.
