Meet Angela and her Service Dog Guide, Nugget 🐾

Angela lives with progressive Multiple Sclerosis and narcolepsy, both of which bring ongoing challenges with mobility, energy, and independence. But since being matched with her Service Dog Guide, Nugget, she describes a shift she never thought possible.

“In that short time, he hasn’t just become my Dog Guide—he’s become my lifeline and my constant source of hope,” Angela shares.

In just nine months together, Nugget has become an essential partner in her day-to-day life—retrieving dropped items, opening doors and drawers, and alerting others when she needs help. These supports have helped reduce risk, increase safety, and most importantly, restore independence.

As Angela puts it, “Because of this, I’m experiencing a steady improvement in everyday life… and a renewed sense of independence.”

Beyond the practical support, Nugget also brings comfort through life’s quieter moments, offering companionship and calm during rest breaks as Angela manages her health.

Together, they’re taking part in the Pet Valu Walk for Dog Guides because they know firsthand the impact a Dog Guide can have—and they want others to experience that same freedom.

🐾 Join them in supporting life-changing partnerships that help Canadians move through the world with greater confidence and independence. walkfordogguides.com
