Neem: A Natural Alternative to Chemical Flea Treatments
Neem offers a safer, eco-friendly alternative to traditional flea treatments:
Repels Fleas: Neem oil disrupts the hormonal system of fleas, preventing them from feeding and reproducing.
Soothes Skin: Its anti-inflammatory properties help calm itchy, irritated skin caused by flea bites.
Safe for Pets: Neem is gentle and free of harmful chemicals, making it an excellent choice for pets with sensitive skin.
How to Use Neem for Flea Prevention
Neem Oil Spray: Mix a few drops of neem oil with water and lightly spray your pet’s coat, avoiding the face and eyes.
Neem Shampoo: Use a natural neem-based shampoo during bath time to kill fleas and soothe irritated skin aw. Be aware that cats are sensitive the essential oils. Check the shampoo before using.
Neem for the Home: Sprinkle neem leaf powder on carpets or bedding, leave it for a few hours, and vacuum thoroughly. This is especially important in sprinkling the powder in pet's bedding and carpet where your pet sleeps.

You can make homemade neem-infused oil by simmering fresh neem leaves with a carrier oil like coconut or olive oil. Note that true commercial neem oil is cold-pressed from neem seeds, but this leaf-infused version works well for skin, hair, and garden use.
What You Need
• Fresh neem leaves (about 1 cup or 150g), washed and thoroughly dried
• Carrier oil (3 cups of coconut oil, olive oil, or almond oil)
• Blender or grinder
• Heavy-bottomed pan
• Fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth
• Clean glass jar or bottle for storage
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Clean and Dry the Leaves: Pluck the fresh neem leaves from the stems and wash them thoroughly to remove dirt. Pat or air-dry them completely on a clean towel so there is no residual water.
2. Blend the Mixture: Place the dry leaves into a blender. Add a small amount of your carrier oil to help break down the leaves, then blend until it forms a smooth, dark green paste.
3. Combine with Oil: Pour the remaining carrier oil and the blended neem paste into a heavy-bottomed pan.
4. Simmer on Low Heat: Cook the mixture over a low or medium-low flame for 15 to 20 minutes. Stir continuously so it does not burn or stick to the bottom of the pan. You will know it is ready when the bubbling noise subsides, the leaves look crisp or faded, and the oil turns a deep green color.
5. Cool and Strain: Remove the pan from the heat and let the oil cool down completely. Pour the oil through a fine mesh sieve or a clean muslin/cheesecloth, pressing down to extract all the liquid.
6. Store Properly: Transfer your strained oil into a clean, dry glass jar. Keep it in a cool, dark place to maintain its potency
