Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre The CCCCC coordinates the Caribbeanโ€™s response to climate change, works on effective solutions & projects to combat its effects and advises regional govts

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Climate Change Centre coordinates the regionโ€™s response to climate change. Officially opened in August 2005, the Centre is the key node for information on climate change issues and the regionโ€™s response to managing and adapting to climate change. The Centre maintains the Caribbeanโ€™s most extensive repository of information and data on climate change specific to the region, which in part enables us to provide climate change-related policy advice and guidelines to the CARICOM Member States through the CARICOM Secretariat. In this role, the Centre is recognised by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and other international agencies as the focal point for climate change issues in the Caribbean. The Centre is also a United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) recognised Centre of Excellence, one of an elite few. Day three of the pre-COP meeting in Miami brought ministers from across CARICOM together to set the regionโ€™s way forward for negotiations at COP31.

Ministers heard from CARICOMโ€™s lead negotiators on the key issues on mitigation and the Global Stocktake, the Global Goal on Adaptation, loss and damage, climate finance, markets, transparency, and capacity building. They then gave political guidance on the regionโ€™s priorities ahead of Antalya, Tรผrkiye, in November.

The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) also updated ministers on its preparations for COP31. CCCCC Executive Director Dr. Colin Young delivered the closing remarks, bringing the preparatory meeting to a close.

๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ธ CCCCC recently met with 68 government and community partners in Nassau to:
โœ… Share practical tips on getting funding for climate projects
โœ… Hear peopleโ€™s views on how communities should be involved in climate work
โœ… Discussthe CABRIC project, a proposed regional project to help Caribbean coastal communities cope with climate change

When communities have a say and projects get funded, everyone is better protected.

Before the world gathers at in Tรผrkiye, CARICOMโ€™s climate leaders unite with a single purpose: to ensure the Caribbeanโ€™s reality is heard loud and clear.

Pre-COP is where our strategy takes shape to ensure that the urgent needs and resilience of Caribbean communities are non-negotiable on the world stage.

Watch our Executive Director, Colin Young, PhD, explain why this process is essential for our regionโ€™s future.

Meet our Climate Leaders Fellows heading to !

Weโ€™re proud to introduce Christianna Paul of the Commonwealth of Dominica and Tristan Ward of Barbados, the two young Caribbean leaders selected for the CCCCC Climate Leaders Fellowship.

โœจ Christianna: "My generation is already living with the consequences of climate inaction, but we are also leading the way with solutions. I'm going to Antalya to hold our leaders accountable to promises made and return home better equipped to translate global conversations into meaningful action."

โœจ Tristan: โ€œClimate action matters to me because it is the key to protecting our Caribbean people, economies, coastlines, and future generations from the escalating impacts of a crisis we did little to create.โ€

They will join the CCCCC delegation in Antalya to see global climate negotiations up close and bring Caribbean youth voices to the table.
Join us in congratulating them ๐Ÿ‘

Thatโ€™s a wrap on three days of learning, collaboration and knowledge sharing in Barbados!

The Geospatial Data Applications Training has officially concluded, with participants from across the Caribbean sharing country-specific experiences, challenges and perspectives on how geospatial data and technology can better support climate action.

Throughout the sessions, countries contributed valuable insights into their national priorities, explored practical applications of geospatial tools and identified opportunities to strengthen regional collaboration and data-driven decision-making.

A special thank you to all participants, facilitators and partners who made these three days of meaningful exchange possible.

Take a look at some moments from our final day!

But don't take our word for it! Stay tuned as we hear directly from participants about their experiences, key takeaways and how they hope to apply what they've learned back home.

In Barbados, Caribbean professionals are getting hands-on with geospatial tools and technologies to strengthen climate planning, monitor biodiversity and support smarter, data-driven decisions.

Through practical exercises, shared experiences and peer-to-peer learning, participants are exploring common regional challenges, exchanging solutions and identifying opportunities for greater collaboration.

๐Ÿค Led by the Commonwealth Secretariat in partnership with the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC), the Geospatial Data Applications Training is helping strengthen the technical skills needed to turn climate information into meaningful action.

Today in Bridgetown, Barbados, the Commonwealth Secretariat, in partnership with the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC), opens the Geospatial Data Applications Training, bringing together participants from across the Caribbean to strengthen the use of data and technology in climate action.

Over three days, participants will explore how geospatial tools can support climate planning, biodiversity monitoring and evidence-based decision-making.

For Caribbean Small Island Developing States, access to the right tools, information and technical expertise is critical to strengthening climate resilience.

The week of activities will culminate in a regional stocktake to assess programme achievements, reflect on lessons learned, and identify emerging climate finance priorities. The CCCCC will contribute regional perspectives on existing gaps, evolving needs, and opportunities to strengthen technical assistance and collaboration.

The discussions are expected to generate practical recommendations to guide the next phase of CCFAH support, ensuring that future interventions remain responsive to the evolving climate finance needs and priorities of Caribbean countries.

With billions in climate finance available, why aren't enough Caribbean businesses seeing it translated into real-world investment?

Our Executive Director, Dr. Colin Young, joined a panel discussion at the Caribbean Investment Forum, co-hosted by the Caribbean Export Development Agency (CEDA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Barbados, to tackle this critical issue.

During the session, Dr. Young and fellow leaders explored: โ€ข Why available climate finance isn't reaching local businesses and projects

Key barriers preventing climate-smart concepts from becoming investment-ready

How project preparation can better align with private-sector realities

Practical approaches to turn pilots into scalable, bankable climate investments

Unlocking private-sector climate solutions requires stronger partnerships, better project design, and a clear pipeline from concept to implementation.
