Kareem has completed 3 weeks into his recovery process after a ride under a car hood that banged him up pretty badly.
It’s certainly been a challenging road but after several bumps (some literal abscesses) and set backs and a few proper scares, 3 different antibiotics, 3 X-rays, 4 different vets and lots of hourly and daily management and love we are seeing Kareem improve.
The last few days have been especially hopeful for us after a little rough patch. He has more mobility in his back legs (he even raised his leg to clean himself- which is a pretty big deal with a broken pelvis) and the edema he was struggling with in his front and back leg has improved greatly. The swelling in his front paw has gone down so much he can articulate his claws again (and use them to ask for his favorite treats) and he wiggled his broken tail a little too!
We’ve figured out a system to manage the bedsore he developed earlier on in his recovery 🫣 and after debridement, it is now free of infection and closing well. He’s getting physical therapy multiple times a day to build his strength back again.
To say this is the most complicated medical rescue case I have ever managed would be an understatement.
I would not have been able to even attempt this without the dedication of Kareem’s family to his recovery, without the guidance of our veterinary team and especially without your financial and moral support of this program 💛🫶🏼🙏🏼 Thank You!
While my primary focus is on Trap, Neuter & Return, there are some cases I just can’t turn my back on.
