On Tuesday, June 16, 2026, Gales Point Government School held an inauguration ceremony for a new ferro-concrete elevated water tank support with a 600-US-gallon tank, generously funded by the
This project proposal was developed in response to the schoolโs long-standing water challenges. Reliable access to water is essential in any school setting, as it supports sanitation, hygiene, food preparation, cleaning, and the overall health and well-being of students and teachers.
This project also will better position Gales Point Government School to qualify for the Healthy Start Feeding Program. A reliable water supply is necessary to maintain proper hygiene, sanitation, and food preparation standards. As a result, the benefits of this project extend beyond the structure itself, supporting student nutrition, health, attendance, and learning.
Work on this important initiative began in March 2026, and more than $43,000 has been invested to provide a sustainable solution to this long-standing issue.
โToday is more than the opening of a new structure. It is a celebration of partnership, commitment, and progress. It also serves as a reminder of what can be achieved when a school community identifies a need, seeks support, and works together toward a meaningful solution,โ said Ms. Melissa Andrade, General Manager for Government Schools.
Community leaders from Gales Point Village, along with the principal, staff, and students; the Chairman and staff of BNECT; and representatives of the Ministry of Education attended the inauguration ceremony and delivered remarks.
