🌍 Happy World Social Work Day 2026! 🌍

Today, we at GOJoven Belize (GOBelize) join the global community in celebrating the incredible dedication and impact of social workers everywhere.

This year's theme, "Co-Building Hope and Harmony: A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society," is inspired by the African philosophy of Harambee, meaning "pulling together" or "all for one" . It reminds us that in an increasingly divided world, the only sustainable path forward is through cooperation, solidarity, and shared responsibility.

In Belize, social workers are on the frontlines every day—advocating for the most vulnerable, protecting human rights, and ensuring that no one is left behind. They are the bridge-builders, the trust-restorers, and the hope-bringers in our communities .

At GOBelize, our team of counselors, peer navigators, and outreach officers embodies this spirit daily. Whether they are:

-Providing confidential HIV testing and counseling 🏥
-Offering psychosocial support to individuals navigating stigma, mental health challenges, or a new diagnosis 💚
-Reaching young people with life-saving information and prevention tools through digital and community outreach 📱
-Creating safe spaces for key populations to access care without fear or judgment 🛡️

…our social workers are the heart of our mission.

To every social worker in Belize, whether in health facilities, community-based organizations, schools, or grassroots movements—thank you. Your compassion, resilience, and unwavering commitment to human dignity are building a stronger, healthier, and more inclusive Belize for us all. When we pull together, no challenge is too great.

Today, we celebrate you. 👏🏽💙

🟠 International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women 🟠

Today, we stand in solidarity with every woman and girl in Belize. We see you. We hear you.

We condemn the alarming rise in gender-based violence in our country. Every woman deserves a life free from fear and violence.

At GoJoven Belize, we remain committed to the fight—through advocacy, education, and supporting survivors. Ending this silence and this violence is everyone's responsibility.

🧠 Today, on World Mental Health Day, we remember that mental health is just as important as physical health. 🧠

At GOJoven Belize, we stand for the well-being of every individual. Creating a supportive and stigma-free environment is essential for building a healthier, more resilient Belize.

Let's all pledge to be kinder, to listen, and to check in on one another. Your mental health matters. 💚

GOJoven Belize actively engaged in the National Stakeholders Forum convened to guide the formulation of Belize’s National Community Health Strategy (2025). The forum, organized by the Ministry of Health & Wellness (MOHW) through its Health Education and Community Participation Bureau (HECOPAB), with technical and financial support from UNICEF Belize, served as a structured platform for policy dialogue, intersectoral collaboration, and evidence-based knowledge exchange.

The forum assembled a broad spectrum of stakeholders — including government line ministries, civil society organizations, non-governmental and non-profit entities, and international development partners — to contribute expertise, share best practices, and document lessons learned, with the overall aim of strengthening national community health systems and programming.

Key thematic areas of focus included: maternal and child health, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), communicable diseases, mental health and climate-related health.
