In order to clarify concerns, confusion, and perceptions here in Belize, this is to inform that since it’s closure in 2020 due to the pandemic, Ecology Project International Belize program officially terminated its operations in Belize.
The current reconfiguration of operations of EPI in Belize does not represent the former structures and legal obligations that EPI once carefully held under the NGO Act, Financial Intelligence Unit, Banking regulations, Belize Companies and Corporate Affairs Registry, Belize Tax Services, and also our compliance to labor laws regarding our office staff and field instructors.
In all our operations, our integrity and credibility was built on being fully transparent and accountable to these regulatory bodies as required by law. All those agencies were duly informed of the closure of this program.
For the removal of doubt please also note that former Belize staff members and instructors have moved on to other endeavors.
We regret the confusion that the information about EPI new courses in Belize has caused after we have repeatedly reported regarding EPI in its previously registered form that we operated under, has been closed since June 2020.
We found it most important to clarify the status of the EPI program so that the integrity that EPI and its Belizean staff, as a former registered entity, had built among partners, funders, schools, and relevant regulatory agencies is not in any way compromised.
