One of the most rewarding parts of mentorship is watching a young person grow into the leader you always knew they could become.
This morning, I had the honor of attending a ceremony where Shanaye was recognized as her schoolโs Head Girl.
Head Girl or Boy is the person who leads the Prefects in a school. A prefect is a student selected by the principal and teachers because they demonstrate leadership potential and are entrusted with helping maintain discipline and uphold the values and rules of the school. But being a prefect is about much more than enforcing rules. Prefects are expected to be role models, mentors, listeners, advocates, and a source of guidance for their fellow students. They help students navigate challenges and bring their concerns to teachers and school leadership when needed.
From among the prefects, one student is selected as Head Girl/Boy, the student leader responsible for guiding and representing the entire prefect body.
For the past two years, Shanaye has been part of our Let Girls Learn program, and it has been incredible to watch her confidence, maturity, and leadership develop.
Today, I wasnโt simply there to celebrate her achievement. I was there to remind her that she has people who believe in her, support her, and will continue to guide her.
Congratulations, Shanaye. Step into this role with humility, compassion, and courage. Lead by example, listen to your peers, and always remember that true leadership is about lifting others up.
The Love Foundation Family is extremely proud of you. โค๏ธ
