Celebrating Gi as she heads off to college. 💛📚

Today, we celebrate and honor our dedicated volunteer, Givanya (Gi), who began this journey with us one year ago as we opened our hearts and hands to serve struggling readers across Belize through SPA’s Read Belize Program. 🇧🇿📖

When each volunteer was asked to create a personal “tool kit” using the training materials we provided, Gi took it to another level! Before long, she had an arsenal of supplies, games, learning tools, and motivational items—more than enough to share with the children and even with fellow volunteers. 🎲✏️📚❤️

Gi, your selfless service and unwavering commitment have helped Read Belize grow in ways we could only imagine. Because of the dedication of volunteers like you, Read Belize now has a waiting list of children eager to participate in the coming school year. What a beautiful testimony to the impact of serving one child at a time! 🙌🏽📚🇧🇿

Thank you for buying into our vision, embracing the mission, and giving so generously of your time, resources, creativity, and heart. Your investment in the lives of struggling readers will continue to bear fruit long after you leave.

As you now leave for college, we pray that this next chapter will be filled with God’s favor, wisdom, excellence, new opportunities, and beautiful experiences. May the same heart of service you brought to Read Belize continue to open doors wherever you go.

Today we had a beautiful opportunity to serve one of our faithful students. While the others students had their one on one in person, we met with one student online because she didn’t have classes today.

Session went really well!!! Who knows maybe meeting our next generation of readers online is an option!? 📚📚📚 Time will tell. 🇧🇿

As we come to the end of our First Semester of Service to Belize, we offer our thanks to our St. Johns College, Junior College, Belize City and St. Catherine's Academy for their Service to Belize Through READ BELIZE.

Fluency is perhaps one of the biggest hurdles on the reading journey. Do the test… If your child is in grade 3/standard one. Write the word “map”. If your child cannot sound out this sight word. He or she should be a part of Read Belize where they will receive one on one support!!!
