We’re delighted to highlight our partner ,Yugadan Fisherfolks Association as they kick off their first-ever Youths in Fishing Program!

This wonderful initiative is creating a space for young people in Hopkins to learn directly from local fishers, build practical fishing skills, and connect with the traditions and knowledge that have shaped their community for generations.

We’re proud to see our partners investing in the next generation and helping ensure that local fishing knowledge continues to be shared, valued, and carried forward.

The National Fishers Network of Belize (NFNB) is seeking a dedicated and passionate Executive Director to lead our day-to-day operations and help turn the vision and priorities of Belizean fisherfolk into meaningful action.

As the unified voice of fisher associations across Belize, the NFNB is committed to strengthening fishers representation, advocating for sustainable fisheries and marine governance, and supporting resilient coastal fishing communities being community centered.

We are looking for a leader who can work closely with our Board of Directors, member associations, government, partners, and fishing communities to advance the interests and priorities of Belize's fisherfolk.

Position Details:

Position: Executive Director
Reports to: NFNB Board of Directors
Employment: Full-time / Contract
Location: Belize
Focus: Sustainable fisheries, marine governance, advocacy, partnerships, and coastal livelihoods

With over 10 years of experience as a fisher, Mr. Arivillaga has consistently demonstrated responsible fishing practices by following fisheries rules and regulations. As Vice Chairman of the Sarteneja Sustainable Vision Fisher Association, he actively promotes ocean conservation, educates fellow fishers on sustainable practices, and leads by example in protecting our marine resources.
His dedication and leadership inspire others to care for our oceans and help ensure a healthy and sustainable future for generations to come.
