Nando’s Donates Blankets and Food Hampers to 15 Palapye Residents

PALAPYE, 6 MAY 2026– Fifteen Palapye residents received blankets and food hampers today through a donation from Nando’s, facilitated by the Gammangwato Development Committee under _Bogosi_.

The handover took place in Palapye with all beneficiaries present. Nando’s representatives Mr Buru, Diphalana Nandos Manager said the donation was made through Nando’s Head Office as part of the company’s commitment to give back to communities where it has operated for many years.

“We have been in Palapye for a long time, and we wanted to show our appreciation to the community,” said Mr Buru at the handover.

Kgosi Martha Lebang officially welcomed the Nando’s team to Palapye and thanked the company for supporting local residents through the winter season. She received the donation on behalf of the community and praised the partnership between Nando’s and the Gammangwato Development Committee.

“This is the kind of support that makes a real difference to our people,” said Kesego Lesaso, Media Department Member of the Gammangwato Development Committee. “The blankets and food hampers will help 15 households, and we are grateful to Nando’s Head Office for choosing to work with _Bogosi_ and our Committee to reach them.”

The beneficiaries were identified through the Committee’s community outreach programmes. All 15 were present to receive their blankets and food hampers at the event.

The Gammangwato Development Committee operates under _Bogosi_ to support grassroots development, cultural preservation, and civic education in Palapye. The Committee’s Media Department documented the handover to ensure transparency.

Nando’s confirmed that community support is central to the company’s values, especially in towns where it has served customers for many years.

Re a leboga Nando’s for keeping Palapye warm this winter ❤️

Today marked the official community activation and welcome of the Repatriation Project led by the Khama III Memorial Museum, a historic journey that is bringing 45 important cultural artifacts back home to Botswana.

Repatriation is the return of cultural heritage and historical objects to their place of origin, something that is currently taking place across Africa as communities reclaim and reconnect with their identity, history, and heritage. As Batswana, and especially as the people of Serowe, we should take pride in witnessing this important moment happening on our own soil.

We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who came to the Kgotla today..Your participation reflects the importance of preserving and honouring our shared heritage for future generations.

This was only the beginning.

We now look forward to a full week of exciting and historic activities at the end of the month as we continue celebrating the return of our heritage and the power of cultural preservation.
