๐ Service Above Self | Supporting the Next Generation
Rotary Okavango recently visited Mosadi Thari Womenโs Centre to donate 11 sleeping bags to Junior Rangers, generously donated by Planet Okavango. These sleeping bags will support the young rangers during their annual camping trips, helping them continue to learn, explore and connect with the natural world.
President Lawrence shared an inspiring message about Rotary Okavango, Rotary International, and the power of our interconnectedness through a shared vision and mission of service.
Katlo and Theda from Junior Rangers introduced us to the incredible work of **Re Jala Pelo**, the umbrella organisation behind Junior Rangers, which operates clubs in 17 schools and reaches approximately 500โ600 children. Through life skills, entrepreneurship, conservation, and social and emotional learning, the programme empowers young people to become responsible, compassionate and proactive citizens.
We also learned about the Moremi Special Education Group, a newly formed initiative empowering 10 young men with the skills and opportunities to become self-sufficient.
Our visit was made even more special by the beautiful handmade crafts of the Nina Collective, a group of 22 women creating wonderful crocheted animals, keyrings, bags and more a lovely example of creativity, community and womenโs empowerment.
A heartfelt thank you to Planet Okavango for the generous donation, our Junior Rangers and community partners for the inspiring work they do, and all the Rotarians who made time to attend: Lawrence, Anja, Kate, Dave, Hannah Carmo, Amy and Maverovero.
Together, we are building stronger communities, empowering young people and putting Service Above Self into action. ๐
