Working together so every child is safe, secure and thriving
On Friday, 16 October, Women Against R**e (WAR) Trust joined partners from across the North West District at Life Center in Maun. The Office of the First Lady convened a stakeholder engagement on Early Childhood Development and Child Protection, a key pillar of Mme Kaone Boko’s MPEPU Programme, under the theme “Every Child Deserves a Secure Future.”
The day was themed Child Protection Collaboration and Partnership: Safety, Permanency and Well-being. It included training facilitated by Ruby Johnston of LAMb International (Global Capacity Building Network), covering:
🔹 The child protection system and collective impact
🔹 Turning safety and risk assessment into action
🔹 Safeguarding policy and enforced practice
🔹 Permanency and well-being: safe families and thriving children
🔹 Preparing foster, adoptive and kinship families
The day closed with action planning on what we can do better together, along with concrete commitments to follow through.
At WAR we support survivors of sexual and gender-based violence, so we see every day how much children depend on services that work together. When police, social workers, health workers, schools, NGOs and families coordinate, gaps close and children are protected sooner. We are grateful to the Office of the First Lady and the District Commissioner’s Office for bringing us all to the table, and we look forward to turning today’s commitments into action.
