Bush Ways Foundation

Bush Ways Foundation Passionate about Botswana's people and wilderness, we provide support to the communities and areas where we operate and to preserve our natural wonders.

Passionate about Botswana's people and wilderness, we continuously strive to ensure our activities have a positive impact and contribute to a sustainable development of our natural wonders. Having collaborated for 20 years on a daily basis with a variety of organisations in Northern Botswana promoting local development, we have managed to identify the support needed to improve the socio-economic s

tatus of the communities and areas where we operate. We have therefore developed a variety of projects in the fields of business development, education, health, social welfare, and environmental conservation that we conduct within the villages in the vicinity of our camps and safaris. With the generous support of our guests and industry partners, we are also able to donate to NGOs and communities on a regular basis.

What an incredible week at Mababe Pre-School.

Through the Bush Ways Foundation, XO mini laptops were donated to support the young learners of Mababe, opening up new opportunities for early childhood learning in this remote community.

This past week, both teachers and pupils were introduced to these learning tools, which are designed with child-friendly icons and programmes that support early development, curiosity, and confidence in the classroom.

Alongside the handover, a Training Needs Assessment was carried out to better understand the support needed moving forward. Teachers also received hands-on training to help build confidence, strengthen skills, and identify the resources needed to sustain quality education at Mababe Pre-School.

Because when we invest in our children, we invest in the future of our nation.

A heartfelt thank you to Teacher Wendy Boucher for travelling to Mababe and sharing her expertise, passion, and care with the school community. Your contribution is truly making a difference.

Early childhood is where futures begin, and together, we are helping ensure that every child counts, no matter where they are.

Spreading warmth, one blanket at a time.

This morning the Bush Ways Foundation team went to Safari Destinations to deliver blankets collected by our clan in support of their annual Blanket Drive.

As the colder months approach, we are reminded that even the simplest act of kindness can bring comfort, dignity, and warmth to someone in need.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed and to Safari Destinations - Botswana & Zimbabwe for leading such a meaningful community initiative.

Together, we can make a difference.

From the waterways of Kazikini to the path of becoming a professional guide.

In 2025, one of our guests met Joel Jonah, affectionately known as Pablo, while he was poling through the waters of Kazikini. His skill, knowledge, and natural connection with guests and the environment left a lasting impression.

What followed was a truly meaningful gesture. Moved by Pablo’s passion and potential, our guest chose to support his future through the Bush Ways Foundation, helping fund his Nature Guide Scholarship.

This is the kind of impact that stays with us. It is a reminder that when guests travel with purpose and generosity, they can help create real opportunities in the communities connected to the wilderness they come to experience.

Bush Ways is proud to give Pablo the opportunity to grow, learn, and be mentored as he begins this next chapter.

To our guest, thank you for seeing Pablo’s potential and choosing to be part of his story. His journey is just beginning, and we are grateful to walk this path together.

The Bush Ways Foundation recently visited Khwai village to support education at Khwai Primary School with a donation of library books and learning aids.

The materials were received by the school leadership and will soon find their place in classrooms and the library as lessons resume.

From storybooks that spark imagination to learning aids that support everyday teaching, these resources are aimed at strengthening literacy, encouraging a love for reading, and supporting young learners on their journey.

In many rural communities, access to educational materials remains a challenge and it’s through partnerships like these that we can help bridge that gap.

Bush Ways Foundation had the privilege of visiting Kavimba Village to make a meaningful contribution to the community.

A television set was donated to serve as a valuable tool in preserving and sharing the rich history and cultural heritage of the Veekuhane people. It will enhance the museum experience by allowing stories, traditions, and archives to be presented in a more engaging and accessible way, particularly for young people and visitors.

This contribution reflects Bush Ways Foundation’s ongoing commitment to supporting local communities and investing in initiatives that celebrate culture, education, and heritage.

The BW Foundation recently visited Kgosietsile Primary School in Mababe to donate soccer kits and what a day it turned out to be.

The smiles said it all. But it didn’t end there… after the handover, our team couldn’t resist a quick match. Let’s just say the elders got properly dribbled. A few sideways glances were exchanged while the young ones glided past at full speed.

Moments like these remind us that giving isn’t just about equipment, it’s about connection, laughter, and showing up.

We also stopped by the refurbished pre-school to check on progress. A local artist is currently working on a mural on the exterior walls, an ongoing project that’s slowly adding colour, creativity, and pride to the space.

Step by step. Field by field. Wall by wall. Community matters.

FROM WASTE TO WORTH

The Bush Ways Foundation recently returned to Khumaga to visit one of our inspiring beneficiaries, Conscious Kgosiemang, whose work is turning glass waste into something meaningful.

Through this collaboration, Bush Ways supplies recycled glass to Conscious, which he skillfully transforms into handcrafted drinking glasses that are sold back to our camps. We’ve also been able to support him with glass-cutting tools and by creating exposure to tourists passing through the village.

This partnership is about more than recycling, it’s about empowerment, sustainability, and keeping Khumaga clean of glass litter, while supporting a local entrepreneur with a growing vision for the future.

If you’re passing through Khumaga, be sure to stop by Boteti River Camp and support his work.

BACK TO SCHOOL WITH PURPOSE

As the new school term begins, the Bush Ways Foundation team took a short but meaningful journey to Khumaga, in the Boteti area, to support learners at Khumaga Primary School.

The team donated books, reading aids, and stationery, simple tools that go a long way in building confidence, encouraging curiosity, and motivating young minds on their learning journey.

Moments like these remind us that education is more than lessons in a classroom, it’s about creating opportunity, belief, and a brighter path forward.
