Over the weekend, together with MAWS , we conducted an outreach project in the Mochaba and Motsaudi areas.

In total, we treated 30 equids, administered 50 vaccinations, and carried out 20 dog sterilisations.

This outreach also marked the start of our ongoing rabies vaccination campaign — an important step in protecting both animals and our community.

A huge thank you to MAWS volunteer vet Phillipa, and the team from Elephant Havens for assisting us in the build-up and on the day. To Jared Dawson our farrier for his support and expertize, Thank you as well to Robyn, Gareth, and Alan from Walk Botswana Safaris for your support and hard work on the day and in the build up, spreading the word to the community as well as continuing with follow up wellness checks.

And special mention to the kids — Mia, Rayne, and Micah — the future of animal welfare ❤️ Thank you for doing your part by treating animals with fly spray, decanting wound spray and tick grease into small tubs for owners to take home… and of course, for making sure all visiting dogs were extremely well fed with snacks!

Community makes this possible. Thank you to everyone involved. 🐾

On Saturday 24th the Equine team did a day outreach to Xhoo village on the outskirts of Maun.

Together with the MAWS team ( Carmen, Vasco and Charlie) and our volunteer vets Wendy and Michael Colgan and vet nurse Heather, we treated a total of 101 animals!

Horses and donkeys were dewormed, tick dipped, treated for wounds, hoofcare done and tack and equipment allocation and education on all of the above. We saw a huge amount of injuries caused by wire and Nylon ropes , and saw some awful bits (if they can even be called that)

Bits were confiscated and new ones allocated to try and assist in alleviating some of the pain these poor animals endure.

Thank you to all our sponsors who assist in allowing us to continue the work we do. SPANA

Thank you to Alex Connolly for spreading the word to the community.

Thank you to the team of volunteers, Julie Riley Kagisano Ras Kay Roxanne Sinclair Jessica Dawson Jared Dawson Sue Bateman, Mia Dawson and Dawn Torre for your assistance throughout the day and for keeping us fed and watered!

Hi to all our supporters

Our funds are running low and the requests for assistance don't stop coming.

If anyone is able and willing to top up our account at Woodsmoke Industries (where we buy our supplies, equipment and food for the rescues in our care) to allow us to continue what we do for the animals of maun and surrounds.

We have an equine and donkey outreach scheduled for the 15th of March, and are desperate to top up our resources before then.

Please contact us for payment details or deposit directly into woodsmoke account using the reference EQUINE ASSIST - YOUR NAME
