UNDP Botswana summaries day 1 of the AI empowerment session this past weekend with ex*****on partners like ThinkAI on the ground.

Skills become more powerful when they are connected to an ecosystem of opportunity.

The Bokamoso Skills national bootcamp journey continues today in Maun, bringing together young people and innovation partners around responsible AI, employability and digital capability.

Day 1 focuses on Building Your Digital Career Toolkit. Participants are working through career direction, responsible AI, prompting and verification, digital identity and safety, professional profile creation, targeted applications, and demonstrable work samples.

Participants are also being introduced to the United Nations Volunteer (UNV) opportunities and the UNV platform, connecting skills development with a wider pathway through which young people can gain experience and contribute to development.

With Innovation Kgotla contributing to the programme, the Maun bootcamp also highlights an important principle behind Bokamoso: training achieves more when learners can connect to institutions, networks and pathways that help them continue after the classroom.

This reflects UNDP Botswana's broader programme direction contributing to economic diversification, through employment and skills, strengthening MSME competitiveness and digital innovation while expanding opportunities for youth and underserved communities.

Tomorrow, participants will put those capabilities to work through entrepreneurship and innovation.

From digital inclusion to local innovation.

After strengthening career readiness on Day 1, young people participating in Bokamoso in Ghanzi turned their attention today to entrepreneurship and problem-solving.

Through the Innovation Discovery Lab, Digital Marketing Sprint, Project Delivery Studio and Pitch Arena, participants explored how to move from identifying a problem to developing and testing a prototype.

They examined potential customers and competitors, worked through pricing and basic cash projections, developed brand and market approaches, identified risks and built seven-day action plans.

The objective is not to pretend that a two-day bootcamp creates fully fledged businesses. It is to equip young people with a disciplined way to test assumptions, generate evidence and take the next credible step.

That distinction is central to responsible innovation and to building a stronger pipeline of young entrepreneurs capable of contributing to Botswana's economic diversification.

As the Ghanzi bootcamp concludes, Bokamoso continues east and north across the Botswana.

Next stop was Maun which is currently in session and Innovation Kgotla couldn't be more excited to have you participants here.

Over the coming weeks, young people across Botswana will come together to explore how responsible AI and digital skills can open new possibilities for employment, innovation and entrepreneurship.
