In an effort to improve Inclusion, Dignity and Equal Opportunities for People with Disabilities in the community, The Center through Botswana Council for the Disabled (BCD) took its services to Chanoga Community Wellness day held at Chanoga,on 28th August,2026.

The wellness was held under the theme "Emisa tiriso botlhaswa jwa ditagi,aga motse oo itekanetseng,malwapa aa itumetseng"

Tshidilo stall was providing counseling to clients, raise awareness and sensitization to educate the community to stop stigma, discrimination and myths about disability,assessment for children with disabilities,home visits and distribution of clothing items and toiletry to the community.

CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH DISABILITY

On 15th to 16th July 2026, Botswana Council For The Disabled (BCD) through Tshidilo Stimulation Center conducted a 2 day workshop for parents of children with disability.It was held under the theme"Navigating the journey together empowering,connecting and advocating".
The objectives of the workshop were:
To increase awareness on developmental milestones of children.
To empower parents with knowledge and understanding of their children 's specific disabilities.
To create a platform where participants can share experiences,learn from one another and strengthen community support for children with disabilities.

Ms Serite, Senior Social Welfare Officer ,North West District Council, elaborated the National Policy on Destitute in depth and how it merges with disability and the services provided to the PWDs.

Mr Buka, Principal Occupational Therapist,
Maun center for Special Education, gave a presentation on services provided by the Centre and the relationship between two Centres.

From Moremi Primary School,Mr Gaolathe,HOD Special Education presented services provided through resources class and inclusive education.
Dr.Mogibelo, Letsholathebe II Memorial Hospital, focussed on Epilepsy and First aid.

In conclusion Parents were encouraged to form support groups/ commitees that will help them tackle disability issues better as a group and be able to share ideas and information for the betterment of their children.

This morning, 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡 𝗦𝗛𝗘𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 donated Comforters (10), pillows (10) and 2 fans to the Centre.
The Centre appreciates this noble gesture.
