Thank you Rotary Okavango

Quiz Night; Turning Fun into Impact 💙

On 4 September, the Okavango Rotary family came together for another fantastic Quiz Night and once again, our community showed just how much can happen when we come together for a good cause.

This time, we raised P6,792.02 in support of Tshidilo Stimulation Centre, along with a very special donation; a wheelchair.

The funds raised will go towards purchasing food supplies for the Centre and we encourage our Maun Community to assist the Centre in their own capacity as well.

And the wheelchair has its own special story. ❤️

During August, Nigel Bellamy, Immediate Past President of Selebi-Phikwe Rotary Club, together with our outgoing President Amy McBride, met at Three Tree Lodge, where Nigel handed over the wheelchair on behalf of the Selebi-Phikwe Rotary Club.

To Nigel and the Selebi-Phikwe Rotary Club, a huge thank you for this generous donation and for standing with us in supporting our community. 🙏

To everyone who joined the quiz, donated, sponsored prizes, bought vouchers, or simply showed up to support the cause you helped make this possible.

Last week Friday, the Centre in conjunction with other stakeholders descended at Maun Center for Special Education, to celebrate Persons with Disabilities in Sports and Art Awareness day.Theme of the day was "Empowering Ability through Sports, Creativity and Career Development".

The event brought together Persons with Disabilities, learners,care givers, athletes, educators,community leaders and sports stakeholders under one roof.

Tshidilo as a stakeholder fully participated.Participants in the disability space emphasized "disability is not inability"

On 04 September,2026, we had a successful Learner 's Wellness day at Maun Center for Special Education.
The purpose of the wellness was to encourage interaction between parents, learners and teachers on physical wellbeing through adapted exercises and games.
To develop healthy habit, build confidence and strengthen relationships with peers, teachers,care givers and other stakeholders.

We reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that children with disabilities are included in sports and are given equal opportunities to thrive.

Last week, Friday 04 September,2026, we attended a Quiz Night at Motsana through the invitation of Okavango Rotary Club.The purpose of the dinner was to raise funds for the Centre.
During the event the club also donated a Wheelchair to the Centre.The event was graced by The Board Chairperson, Mr Molapisi,Centre Manager,Mr Mphothwe, HOD Therapy and Rehabilitation Services,Ms Leilamang and others.
The Centre would like to extend a heartfelt gratitude to the club for their generosity and empathy.

In an effort to improve Inclusion, Dignity and Equal Opportunities for People with Disabilities in the community, The Center through Botswana Council for the Disabled (BCD) took its services to Chanoga Community Wellness day held at Chanoga,on 28th August,2026.

The wellness was held under the theme "Emisa tiriso botlhaswa jwa ditagi,aga motse oo itekanetseng,malwapa aa itumetseng"

Tshidilo stall was providing counseling to clients, raise awareness and sensitization to educate the community to stop stigma, discrimination and myths about disability,assessment for children with disabilities,home visits and distribution of clothing items and toiletry to the community.
