September has been designated as the Month of Tourism in Botswana, leading up to World Tourism Day on 27 September 2026.

This year’s commemoration is held under the theme, β€œDigital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence to Redesign Tourism.” The theme calls for embracing technology and innovation to transform how tourism is experienced, marketed and delivered.

As Botswana celebrates 60 years of Independence, let us celebrate our tourism sector, showcase our rich culture and heritage, and create opportunities for communities, businesses and visitors.

Let September be a month of celebration, participation and innovation as we collectively showcase Botswana’s tourism potential to the world.

The Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) continued its stakeholder consultations in Maun as part of the nationwide validation of the proposed Botswana Tourism Marketing Strategy, the review of tourism grading fees, updates to the revised hospitality standards, and discussions on tourism investment opportunities.

Tourism industry players and key stakeholders actively participated in the consultations, engaging with presentations delivered by BTO officials and providing valuable insights, observations, and recommendations on the proposed initiatives.

The consultations are aimed at ensuring that the Botswana Tourism Marketing Strategy reflects industry priorities, strengthens the country's destination brand, and enhances its competitiveness in key tourism markets.
