Botswana to the World! Join our 2023 Local President Keba Daniel Magogwe on the world's stage this Sunday to empower parents on Communication and Digital Parenting.

In todayโ€™s digital age, children are exposed to online platforms at an increasingly younger age. While technology offers learning opportunities, it also presents risks such as cyberbullying, inappropriate content, online predators, and excessive screen time. On 31 January 2026, the boards of JCI Botswana and JCI Gaborone participated in an intensive leadership training session facilitated by Senator Donald Koogotsitse, fondly known as โ€œSenator Donโ€.

The training centered on embracing transformational leadership and corporate governance โ€” two pillars essential for building sustainable organizations and impactful communities. Senator Don emphasized that in todayโ€™s ever-evolving world, leaders must not only accept change but actively drive it.

At JCI, our guiding principle โ€œOne Year to Leadโ€ reminds us that leadership is both a privilege and a responsibility. Within that short timeframe, leaders are called to inspire, serve, and leave a lasting impact. This philosophy also highlights the importance of being both a leader and a follower, ensuring continuity and collective growth.

โ€ข Corporate governance: Effective leadership requires accountability, structure, and sustainability.
โ€ข Leadership & followership: Both roles are critical in building a movement that endures.
โ€ข Personal growth: Leaders should be self-starters, widely read, passionate, and purposeful.
โ€ข Learning by doing: Rotational leadership exposes members to diverse responsibilities, shaping well-rounded leaders.
โ€ข Transformational leadership: Creating an improved future through vision, conflict management, organizational life cycles, and governance frameworks.

Leadership isnโ€™t just about personal growthโ€”itโ€™s about transforming communities. By inspiring others, practicing integrity, and leading with passion, JCI leaders create local impact while competing globally. True leadership is service, impact, and building communities that thrive.
