Polio is a serious disease, but it is preventable.
As Botswana prepares to launch Round 2 of the Polio Vaccination Campaign tomorrow, health professionals are urging all parents and caregivers to ensure their children aged 0–59 months receive the polio vaccine.

Vaccination remains the safest and most effective way to protect children from polio and keep our communities healthy.
The campaign starts tomorrow, Monday 8 June. Take your child for vaccination and help protect every child from polio.

On Global Day of Parents, observed on 1 June under the theme “Together for Parents”, UNICEF reaffirms the vital role of parents and caregivers in nurturing and protecting children. In Botswana, as across the world, families are the cornerstone of societies. When parents are supported with adequate time, resources, and recognition, children are given the strongest foundation for their future. On this day, we pay tribute to parents everywhere and call for continued investment in family-friendly policies that uphold the rights and well-being of every child.

“A child should not only learn about biodiversity in textbooks - they should experience it. As the tourism industry, we have a responsibility to connect children with nature, culture, and indigenous knowledge firsthand. By linking classroom learning with visits to parks and game reserves, we can inspire the next generation. Let’s be intentional about investing in programs that put children first.” - Tebogo Boalotswe, Natural Selection.
