Motivation is nothing but an emotion. It is temporary. It emerges when all the stars are aligned in favor, and disappears the minute things get tough, boring, or not very appealing. Being dependent on motivation makes us lazy enough to give up at the first sign of losing our initial excitement.

In case we wish to mentor future generations, our conversations should move away from “ 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝” slogans to 𝐓𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲.
For the sake of achieving consistency, there are three important shifts that need to be made:
- 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐈𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐲:Become a person who always fulfills his promises. Consistency will come naturally to you when you turn the specific behavior into your personal identity.
- 𝐒𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Too many tasks to do means no tasks at all. Consistency is not about perfection, it is about resilience.
- 𝐓𝐰𝐨 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐑𝐮𝐥𝐞: One missed day is acceptable – life happens. But missing two consecutive days is when the bad habit starts. In order for us to build a future worth having, we have to be prepared with the tools needed to mold our days.
The reality of the matter is that greatness is not an act of divine inspiration; rather, greatness is built incrementally by making mundane choices.
