Strides of 50: Every Step Counts for Down Syndrome Awareness

Today, Botswana Council for the Disabled (BCD) had the privilege of meeting and supporting the Strides of 50 awareness walkers led by Mrs. Neo Nkele as they continue their inspiring 500-kilometre journey from Francistown to Gaborone.

This remarkable walk aims to raise awareness about Down Syndrome and promote the rights, dignity, inclusion, and equal opportunities of individuals with Down Syndrome across Botswana. We commend Mrs. Nkele and her team for their dedication, resilience, and commitment to creating a more inclusive society.

We invite members of the public, organisations, and stakeholders to join the final leg of the walk on Saturday, 13 June 2026. Participants will walk 21 kilometres from Mowana Park Mall, Phakalane to Avani Hotel, Gaborone, in celebration of inclusion and disability rights.

Let us come together and show our support for a Botswana where everyone belongs and has equal opportunities to thrive.
