Day 2 | From Dialogue to Action

As the 4th National Social Work Symposium concludes, BONASW celebrates two days of meaningful engagement, professional solidarity, and renewed commitment to social development in Botswana.

The symposium reminded us that Social workers are not only service providers, but also bridge-builders, advocates, and agents bringing harmony in divided spaces.

Guided by the Harambee spirit---pulling together for the common good, we leave Ghanzi united in purpose and inspired to translate these conversations into action within our communities.

The Botswana National Association of Social Workers officially opened the International Social Work Day Commemoration & 4th National Social Work Symposium in Ghanzi under the global theme: Co-buiding Hope & Harmony,A call to Unite a Divided Society.

Day 1 brought together Social workers, practitioners, students, partners and community leaders in a powerful space of dialogue, reflection and learning.Discussions centred on restoring Social Cohesion, Strengthening professional collaboration and advancing Social justice in Botswana.

Through shared experiences and professional insights,we re-affirmed one message: Stronger Communities are built when we work together!

BONASW Press Conference Successfully Held

The Botswana National Association of Social Workers (BONASW) successfully held a press conference today as part of Activation for the upcoming International Social Work Day Commemoration and the 4th National Social Work Symposium.

The engagement provided an opportunity to brief members of the media on the current state of the Social Work profession in Botswana, progress towards professional registration and regulation, and the upcoming 4th national symposium to be held in Ghanzi under the theme “Co-building: Hope and Harmony – A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society.”

We extend our sincere appreciation to JS Farm, Mmankgodi for hosting us in such a serene and refreshing environment, and to all media houses, stakeholders, and members who attended and supported the engagement.

🌍 International Social Work Month 2026

The Botswana National Association of Social Workers (BONASW) proudly joins the global community in celebrating Social Work Month under the theme:
Co Building Hope and Harmony- A Harambee Call to Unite a Divided Society

This theme calls upon all of us; social workers, communities, partners and leaders to come together in solidarity to rebuild trust, restore dignity and strengthen the social fabric of our nation.

Every day social workers stand at the frontline of change supporting vulnerable individuals, advocating for justice and healing divides within families and communities. Through compassion, collaboration and commitment, we continue to co-create pathways of hope and resilience.

As part of the celebrations, BONASW will host International Social Work Day commemorations in Ghanzi on the 27th of March 2026.

We invite all social workers from different disciplines to join us as we celebrate the profession, share experiences and strengthen our collective voice.
