🌈 Happy Pride Month! 🌈

Pride is absolutely free because love is free. Being yourself is free. Respect costs nothing. Kindness is free. Acceptance is free. Dignity belongs to everyone.

This Pride Month, we celebrate the beauty of diversity, the strength of our communities, and the right of every person to live authentically and without fear.

Love should never come with conditions.

Love is Love.
Respect is Respect.
Humanity is Humanity.

LEGABIBO HIGH-LEVEL MULTI-STAKEHOLDER CONVENING

Our multi-stakeholder convening brought together civil society organizations, legal experts, offices of Members of Parliament, human rights defenders, youth leaders and regional partners for bold and necessary conversations on building a more inclusive Botswana.

On Day 1 of our convening we reflected on Botswana’s evolving legal and human rights landscape to engaging on SRHR, health access, parliamentary accountability, and structural inequalities, as the day created an important space for dialogue, learning, and collective action.

As we continue strengthening rights, law and inclusive governance, we remain reminded that meaningful change happens when diverse voices come together at the same table. ✊🏾

Today, we celebrate Africa Day under the theme: “Sixty-three (63) Years of Unity, Integration and Development - Let’s Celebrate Together.”

As we reflect on Africa’s journey, we are reminded that true unity and development cannot exist without human rights, dignity, equality and justice for all people. A stronger Africa is one where every person - regardless of gender, sexuality, identity, nationality, disability, class or background is able to live freely, safely and with equal opportunity.

Africa Day is not only a celebration of progress, but also a call to continue building inclusive societies rooted in solidarity, botho, freedom and collective liberation. Our diversity is not a threat to unity - it is the foundation of it.

Here’s to an Africa where no one is left behind. 🌍✊🏾

Building new strategies for a more inclusive future. 🌈

From Monday 18 – Wednesday 20 May, LEGABIBO convened civil society organizations, faith leaders, PFLAG members, former staff, human rights activists, feminist leaders, legal experts, health practitioners, technology experts and advocates from diverse spaces to reflect on the journey of our 5-year Beyond the Rainbow Strategy.

Together, we explored the progress made, challenges experienced, emerging realities and the gaps that still exist - while collectively mapping a stronger, more responsive and community-driven strategy for the future.

These conversations reminded us that sustainable movements are built through collaboration, honesty, innovation and shared vision.

Thank you to everyone who contributed their voices, expertise and lived experiences to shaping the next chapter of LEGABIBO’s work.

Lorato Ke Lorato. 🤎

A campaign rooted in love, dignity, botho and constitutional equality.

Through this campaign, LEGABIBO is supporting ongoing marriage equality litigation in Botswana by creating spaces for dialogue, learning and engagement. Over the coming months, the campaign will include:
• Community dialogues
• Public conversations
• Surveys and storytelling
• Social media activations
• Advocacy rooted in humanity and equality

We believe:
Love is human.
Love is constitutional.
Love is African.

This is about belonging. This is about dignity. This is about Botswana for all.

Follow the campaign. Engage with the conversations. Share your voice. Shift the narrative.

Today, we commemorate IDAHOBIT 2026 - a reminder that equality, dignity and freedom belong to everyone.

Observed every 17 May, IDAHOBIT marks the historic removal of homosexuality from the World Health Organization’s list of mental disorders in 1990. It remains an important day to challenge discrimination, violence and exclusion faced by LGBTQIA+ communities worldwide.

This year’s theme, “At the Heart of Democracy,” reminds us that democracy cannot thrive while some people are denied safety, justice, inclusion and equal opportunity because of who they are or who they love.

Beyond today, we must continue building communities and institutions rooted in equality, compassion and human rights for all.
