Our engagement in Francistown did not end with LBQ because marriage equality is a shared human rights responsibility.

LEGABIBO also hosted a dialogue that brought together civil society organizations, Parents, Families, and Friends of Le****ns and G**s (PFLAG) and human rights activists to explore marriage equality through a feminist and human rights lens. Through conversations on constitutional rights, SOGIE awareness, and the realities of exclusion, participants reflected on the role we all play in advancing dignity, equality, and justice for everyone.

From building understanding to naming challenges and identifying actions, the dialogue reinforced that marriage equality is not only an LGBTIQ+ issue, it is a shared human rights responsibility.

On the International Day of the African Child, we reflect on a future where every child can grow up feeling safe, valued, and free to be themselves.

We envision a Botswana where all children regardless of who they are or who they may grow to love can dream, belong, and thrive with dignity.

LEGABIBO held a powerful dialogue bringing together Le***an, Bisexual, Q***r and Trans-women (LBQT) to deepen understanding of the marriage equality case, centre lived realities, and reflect honestly on the fears and tensions within our communities. Through shared storytelling, we reclaimed our narrative and strengthened collective voice - grounding ourselves in what it means to be seen, heard and protected.

From understanding the marriage equality case, to naming our truths, to imagining how we want our story told, the session created space for reflection, solidarity, and strategy. Most importantly, we moved from voice to action, clarifying the role LBQT women can play in the Lorato Ke Lorato campaign and what support is needed to sustain our advocacy.

This dialogue is one of the ways we commit to justice, dignity, and love.

We thank the LBQT women of Francistown for showing up with openness, courage, and honesty. Your voices, reflections, and lived realities grounded our dialogue and reminded us why this work matters.

Taboka.

Love means different things to different people, but at its core, it is something we all deserve to experience freely and fully.

We asked people to describe what love means to them in just two words. Their answers remind us that love is powerful, personal, and universal.

What does love mean to you in two words? Let us know in the comments.

The joinder application hearing has been postponed to 14 July 2026, when the Court will hear arguments on whether LEGABIBO may participate in the matter.

We remain committed to advancing equality, dignity, and constitutional rights for all.
