Around the world, girls are breaking stereotypes and overcoming barriers that have long held them back — from being denied an education and facing early or forced marriage to experiencing gender-based violence.

Despite these challenges, they continue to pursue their dreams and strive to reach their full potential.

On Sunday's International Day of the Girl Child and every day, join UN Women in standing with girls as they take charge of their futures.

Child marriage is the end of childhood for many girls.

It cuts short their education and can force them into early pregnancy, putting their health and lives at risk.

Despite decades of progress, 1 in 5 girls is still married before they turn 18. This must stop now.

On this , join UNFPA and Executive Director Diene Keita in calling for governments and partners to invest in the future of every girl.
