A Just Transition Is About More Than Clean Energy — It’s About Ownership, Equity and Power.
We recently hosted Bonolo Segale — a brilliant Motswana climate policy researcher based in Bonn, Germany.
She broke down the real meaning of a just energy transition:
1. Dignified jobs for youth
2. Inclusion of women, Indigenous peoples, and people with disabilities
3. Community ownership of renewable energy projects
4. Energy sovereignty over foreign dependency
5. Holding wealthy polluters accountable while lifting up the most affected
It’s time to divest from fossil fuels and invest in our people. Time to make policies at a reality — not just in legislation, but in practice.
The future must be just, inclusive, and community-powered.
