As Botswana celebrates 60 years of Independence, Young Minds Africa marks this historic occasion while looking ahead to a significant milestone of our own: the road to 10 years of serving Batswana.

Young Minds Africa Trust (YMA), initially registered as Young Minds Association in 2017, has grown tremendously through the years. Our journey has been strengthened by meaningful partnerships across Africa, as well as collaborations with organisations and embassies globally. These relationships have enabled us to broaden our reach and deepen our contribution to the communities we serve.

As we reflect on Botswana's journey and our own, we extend our sincere gratitude to our partners, supporters, volunteers, young people, women and communities for the continued support of our work. Every partnership and contribution has played a role in advancing our vision.

YMA is dedicated to the pursuit of sustainable prosperity and equality through youth and women-driven solutions focused on civic participation and economic empowerment.

JOIN US TONIGHT FOR THE PUBLIC POLICY LAB FINAL SHOWCASE

Over the past four weeks, young people from across Botswana have come together through the Public Policy Lab, a programme by Model Parliament and Young Minds Africa Trust (YMA), to navigate and make sense of public documents that shape our everyday lives including policies, strategies, frameworks, Acts of Parliament and the Constitution.

Throughout this journey, participants have followed one common track: YOUTH ACCESS.

Something BIG is Coming 🇿🇲✨

Over the past week, the Young Minds Africa and the Girls Gone Political team have been on the ground meeting with key stakeholders, building partnerships and laying the groundwork for our Quota-To-Leadership Program.

Today, we had the privilege of visiting the Botswana High Commission in Zambia, where we presented the vision behind the program and explored opportunities for collaboration.

This is more than a program. It’s about preparing a new generation of leaders to step into spaces that have historically been out of reach.

The conversations have started.
The partnerships are taking shape.
And the work begins soon.

Our Operations Director , Today, representing the collective civil society position at the "Bridging the Gap" Joint Oversight Workshop. Following two months of dedicated consultations launched in April, he presented our recommendations on strengthening Parliament–CSO engagement to the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Keorapetse, Deputy Speaker Manyeneng, and the Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Saleshando and MPs present .At Young Minds Africa, we believe that refining Standing Orders and fostering collaborative oversight is essential to building a more participatory and accountable democratic future for Botswana.
