Why Do Women Use Substances?
Women use substances for many different reasons, and often these reasons are connected to life challenges and emotional pain. Some women may use substances to cope with stress, trauma, anxiety, or depression. Others may face difficult situations such as gender-based violence, relationship problems, financial pressure, or overwhelming caregiving responsibilities.
Stigma and fear of judgment can also make it harder for women to seek help, especially when they worry about being labeled as “bad mothers” or losing support from family and community.
This International Women’s Month, let’s break the stigma and create safe spaces where women can speak openly and access support without shame.
💜 Women deserve understanding, compassion, and access to treatment.
💜 Recovery is possible with the right support.
