One of our objectives at Journey of Hope Botswana, is to distribute awareness pamphlets. These are intentionally designed with lots of images, as well as explanations in both English and Setswana.
As we distribute them (like we did recently in Sedumedi and Sebele Wards, in Molepolole) we pair this with awareness talks and demonstrations of the self-breast examination technique - all of which are intended to assist with early detection of Breast cancer.
Please don't throw the pamphlets away (or leave them unused in a drawer somewhere). Rather consider passing the pamphlet onto someone else, who may benefit from the information graphics.
Have a happy weekend, and make the right lifestyle choices - because your breast health is truly in your hands.

We recently attended the data consultative Government-to-Government meeting called by National AIDS & Health Promotion Agency to better understand the agreements and expectations, that govern how data is collected and shared. This was important for us, as we report our awareness and screening data to the Ministry of Health, and need to understand the purpose and significance of this.

Light the Legacy. Remember. Advance. Act. is an AIDS Candlelight Memorial commemorated globally, every year. Last week Friday it was commemorated at Boswelakoko Clinic, in Molepolole - and we were there to represent breast cancer as an NCD.
Our involvement was mandatory, as a breast cancer awareness NGO that speaks to cancers as NCDs.

According to the World Health Organisation, people living with HIV (PLHIV) have a higher risk of developing NCDs - such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, cervical cancer, and kidney disease - due to chronic immune system inflammation and the long-term metabolic side effects of antiretroviral therapy (ART).

Thank you
To all the stakeholders who came forth to play for our cause, and help us raise funds - we are truly grateful.

Every year we undertake a week-long breast cancer awareness and screening 'Big Journey' where we offer free services to (mostly) underserved communities. This is not only a team of up to 35 volunteers - but a commitment to support the patients we meet, with whatever they need (transport, accommodation and lab tests) so they can get diagnosed in the shortest time possible and start treatment.

Through your support we are closer to being ready for this year's Big Journey - which will take place in the first week of September 2026.

This morning we took part in the World No to***co Day walk, in Molepolole - from Scottish Livingstone Hospital to Borakalalo Clinic - escorted by Lekgwapheng Police.

The actual commemoration date may have passed (on 31 May 2026) but with WHO reporting that 8 million adolescents (aged 13-15) worldwide are addicted to e-cigaretre to***co, and 8 million people die prematurely because of to***co use, the problem is definitely ongoing.

Following the walk, a brave individual stood up and shared her journey of quitting smoking - after learning that it increases the risk of non-communicable diseases like respiratory diseases, heart diseases, hypertension and even cancer.

Some communities have gone as far as declaring June, as a NO SMOKING 🚭 month, to promote healthier lifestyle choices.
At Journey of Hope Botswana, we speak to cutting out smoking completely, as this can lead to breast cancer.

Today is the last Wednesday of the month - and a reminder that we should TOUCH. LOOK. CHECK - at least once a month, every month.

This morning on Rb2 Your Station of Choice, the conversation between and our PR Manager, Onica Lekuntwane, reminded us all of the importance of regularly touching, looking, and checking our breasts for early signs of breast cancer.

It was also a reminder that breast cancer is a non-communicable disease (NCD), and that certain unhealthy lifestyle choices - such as smoking, alcohol abuse, lack of physical exercise, and unhealthy eating habits - may increase the risk of developing NCDs.

You are never too young (or too old) to be at risk, so take your (breast) health into your own hands.
