🇧🇼 Celebrating 50 Years of the P**a | Kanye

Botswana Cooperative Association (BOCA) was honoured to be part of the commemoration of 50 years of the P**a and Thebe, held in Kanye under the theme “P**a le Thebe: Shielding Wealth, Nurturing Inclusive Growth.”

The Governor of the Bank of Botswana, Mr Lesego C. Moseki, reflected on the journey of the P**a and its significance to Botswana’s monetary independence and economic development. The Vice President and Minister of Finance, Honourable Ndaba Gaolathe, in his keynote address, emphasised the importance of protecting the value and integrity of the P**a while strengthening institutions and creating inclusive economic opportunities for Batswana.

For BOCA, being part of this significant national occasion provided an important platform to showcase the cooperative movement and educate the public about BOCA as the apex body representing cooperative societies in Botswana.

A key area we highlighted was the role of Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies (SACCOS) in promoting financial inclusion, economic empowerment and access to financial services. With the transition of SACCOS into enhanced prudential supervision by the Bank of Botswana, BOCA remains committed to supporting cooperatives in strengthening their systems, governance, efficiency, reporting, compliance and overall operations.

In line with this commitment, we showcased CoopMIS (Cooperative Management Information System), a digital solution administered by BOCA to support SACCOS in areas such as member management, credit and loan administration, financial management, accounting, reporting and other key operational functions.

As Botswana looks towards the next 50 years, BOCA recognises that strong institutions, sound financial systems, technology and inclusive economic participation are essential to building a resilient and sustainable economy. Cooperatives have an important role to play in this journey, and BOCA remains committed to empowering them to operate more efficiently, transparently and sustainably.

We were proud to be part of this historic celebration and to contribute to the conversation on inclusive growth, financial empowerment and the continued development of Botswana’s cooperative sector. 🇧🇼

P**a le Thebe — Shielding Wealth, Nurturing Inclusive Growth.

BOCA Attends Ditswammung SACCO AGM

The Botswana Cooperative Association (BOCA) Secretary, Mr Richard Muyoba Muyoba, attended the Ditswammung SACCO Annual General Meeting (AGM).

In his keynote address, Mr Goloswang Ramogala encouraged members to continue working together to build a stronger and more successful cooperative. He emphasized that members should not only save, but also make use of credit facilities, as this enables the SACCO to generate income while fulfilling its core purpose of providing accessible financial services to its members.

💡 Save. Borrow. Invest. Grow.
When members actively participate, cooperatives become stronger, more sustainable and better positioned to improve the lives of their communities.

Together, we can build stronger cooperatives and a stronger Botswana. 🇧🇼🤝
