Project Nthuse is all about building a large community based safety network to help protect ourselves. Recently there has been a rise in crime across the country. There is a rise in house breakings, passion killings, Gender Based Voliolence and law inforcement is overwhelmed. It is now up to us and it is a moral obligation as the community, leaders and other stakeholders to help protect each other.

Project Nthuse will instill the idea in us that we are fully responsible for each others safety as Batswana. To help implement Project Nthuse we have also developed an Emergency Mobile Application called Nthuse which sends out emergency sms alerts to up to 10 pre-selected emergency contacts. With just a push of a button, a user will have up to 10 people coming to their rescue in time of need.

Project Nthuse will help unite the community and keep everybody safe. Have your friends, family, colleagues and neighbours come to your aid while you wait for law enforcement to arrive. Project Nthuse will help keep everyone safe and reduce the high rate of crime. Download and use the mobile application for free and be part of the safety network that will keep you and your loved ones safe.

Share and save a life. It starts with you.

An abusive relationship—also known as domestic violence, intimate partner violence, or dating abuse—involves one partner attempting to cause physical, s*xual, or psychological harm to the other. This can encompass a wide range of behaviors. For example, s*xual abuse within a relationship refers not just to violent s*xual behavior or forcing someone to have s*x when they don’t want to, but also involving other people in a couple’s s*xual activities when one partner doesn’t want to, ignoring a partner’s feelings regarding s*x, or pressuring someone to dress in a s*xual way.

CHILD MISSING !!!!

Recently a lot of children have gone missing around Botswana. Some where found but had lost their dear lives. Ga se selo se se bonolo go latlhegelwa ke ngwana. We can do the following to prevent our children from being abducted.

Teach your children that it is more important to get out of a threatening situation than it is to be polite. Children should be taught just because someone tries to engage them in conversation doesn't mean they should talk to that person or forget their safety rules. Immediately get away from anyone who bothers them or makes them feel sad, scared, or confused. Remind them that it is OK to be impolite and say no.

Tell them to trust their feelings. A recent study indicates that 84% of thwarted abductions involved the child doing something proactive to escape, such as walking or running away, yelling, kicking, pulling away, attracting attention or otherwise resisting.

Teach your child what to do if approached by a stranger. Common tricks used to abduct children include offering a ride, offering the child candy, asking the child to help them look for a lost pet or showing them a pet, asking for directions, or claiming that the child's parent has asked them to bring the child home because of an emergency.
Listen to your child; don't disregard their fears. Instead, let them know that you take their fears and concerns seriously.

Know the routes your child takes to and from school, friends' homes and other activities.
Teach your children their full names, addresses and phone numbers.

Know your neighbors and your child's friends, including their names, addresses and telephone numbers.

Be involved in your child's activities by volunteering at school, clubs, and sporting events - participate in a neighborhood watch program.

Before leaving your child in the care of a day-care, pre-school, baby sitter, or youth organization, check their references and qualifications. Ask if criminal background checks are conducted before new staff members are hired.

Gender-based violence is one of the most prevalent human rights violations in the world. It knows no social, economic or national boundaries. Worldwide, an estimated one in three women will experience physical or s*xual abuse in her lifetime. Gender-based violence undermines the health, dignity, security and autonomy of its victims, yet it remains shrouded in a culture of silence.

One in three women worldwide experience physical or s*xual violence, mostly by an intimate partner. Violence against women and girls is a human rights violation, and the immediate and long-term physical, s*xual, and mental consequences for women and girls can be devastating, including death.

Violence negatively affects women’s general well-being and prevents women from fully participating in society. It impacts their families, their community, and the country at large. It has tremendous costs, from greater strains on health care to legal expenses and losses in productivity.

Let's stand together to prevent GBV.

Violence against women is highly prevalent, and intimate partner violence is the most common form of violence. During health emergencies, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, violence against women tends to increase.

Whilst data are scarce, reports from across the world, including China, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, and other countries suggest a significant increase in domestic violence cases related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Reports from other countries suggest a reduction in survivors seeking services due to a combination of lockdown measures and not wanting to attend health services for fear of infection.

If you are experiencing violence, it may be helpful to reach out to family, friends and neighbors, to seek support from a hotline or, if safe, from online service for survivors of violence. Find out if local services (e.g. shelters, counselling) are open and reach out to them if available.

Make a safety plan in case the violence against you or your children escalates. This includes:

Identifying a neighbour, friend, relative, colleague, or shelter to go to in case you need to leave the house immediately for safety.

Have a plan for how you will exit the house safely and how you will reach there (e.g. transport).

Keep a few essential items (e.g. identification documents, phone, money, medicines, and clothes) available, and a list of telephone numbers in case of an emergency.

If possible, develop a code with a trusted neighbour so they can come to your aid in case of an emergency.

Be a part of Project Nthuse and keep your loved ones safe.

Gender-based violence, already a global crisis before the pandemic, has intensified since the outbreak of COVID-19. Lockdowns and other mobility restrictions have left many women trapped with their abusers, isolated from social contact and support networks. Increased economic precarity has further limited many women’s ability to leave abusive situations. COVID-driven economic and social instability will also heighten the risk of child marriage, female ge***al mutilation and human trafficking. At the same time, the pandemic has exposed women leaders to backlash, leading to threats, abuse and harassment both online and offline. Violence against women leaders can prevent them from carrying out their duties regardless of the position they hold.
