The Trust was formed in recognition of the pressures on Botswana’s wildlife and the environment. Its creation recognised the endemism of Botswana wildlife, the beauty of her natural landscapes, and the need to preserve this magnificence for future generations. e conservation and livelihoods development through environmental education, development of management plans for protected areas, support towards capacity building and empowerment of Community Based Organisations (CBOs), advocating for the protection of ecosystems and contributing towards the formulation and implementation of policies. There is need for holistic conservation practices that not only focus on biodiversity but also provision of sustainable livelihoods, where participation from all stakeholders is considered in all levels of planning and implementation.
